We enjoyed our stay here very much and appreciated the friendliness and helpfulness of all the staff.
Our room was very comfortable and we had a lovely sea view. A mat or additional rail for the shower would have made using it much safer.
The grounds were immaculate and the provision of additional activities during the day was welcome.
The food in the restaurant was of a good standard but it was not always hot as people failed to close the covers.
For our trips out we used Reshni Tours, a small but efficient and friendly company.
Our first trip was an overnight stay and safari in Yala National Park. Everything was arranged by Reshni, a charming young man who speaks very good English, and there were no problems of any kind. We were even fortunate enough to see a leopard and a green python.
Our second trip was to Galle Fort when we went down the new Highway. Again, Reshni organised everything and we even went to a Moonstone mine on our way back.
We would not hesitate to recommend Reshni as he always replied promptly to emails before our holiday, he has a tourist guide licence, his drivers and vehicles are of the highest standard and his prices are very reasonable.

Stayed for two weeks all inclusive left on 4th March 2014. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room cleaned and sheets changed everyday. Hotel in an excellent setting very open aspect with lots of water features which creates a relaxing atmosphere. We did visit the sister hotel the Palm beach next door but thought the Tangerine was a far better layout.
Nice Pool area but paved area were sunbeds are could be cleaned more often.
Food was ok we could always find something to eat. Daytime snacks were very limited. Tea and coffee facillity was closed at 6pm. We found this odd we could get alcohol but no Tea.
Wine is not available and must be bought. 400 rupees a glass £2 or 3500 rupees a bottle. If you like wine get a Tuk tuk from outside and go into Kalutara you can buy a bottle for 1000 rupees.
Night time entertainment very poor ( generic musicians playing 80/90's different bands playing same songs every night) highlignt was the national dancers and snake charmer very good.
We did two trips one through Sanka tours and one with Tikka tours both recommended on trip advisor both excellent. Be aware everything is far away the Elephant orphanage took 3 hours to get to but worth it.
We did eat outside the hotel and found it good value and excellent quality. Sea Shells restaurant which is just over the railway track on the left hand side above the shops. Alos Happy Relax beach shack which is right next to Tangerine beach walk onto beach and turn left it is very basic but good service and value. A guy called harry does the cooking and if you ask him (24hours notice) he will make you an authentic sri lankan curry which is very nice.
We did some shopping buying some sari's and t shirts from the beach girls who are good fun. We also bought some wood carvings from a lovely lady who has the shop (more like a house) just over the railway tracks on the lefthand side set back. She does not harass you and lets you look in peace.
We also discovered a little shop just outside the hotel gates next to the Nathaliya restaurant were the lady will make you trousers shirts and dresses to measure and they are excellent qualty and very cheap.
Tip the pool guy and he will sort your sunbed out every morning and you can laugh at all the people getting up at stupid o'clock to try and grab a sunbed.
Tip the waiters and they will look after you. If you buy your own wine they will get you an ice bucket for it.

Had 2 weeks Feb to March 2014. A good hotel, with some fantastic staff who go out of their way to ensure you are having a good time. We were on the all inclusive option & food was good & varied for the 2 weeks. Room was clean and comfortable with a balcony & sea view. Low key entertainment laid on each night. The Sri Lankan roads are an experience ! the trip from the airport to the hotel is definitely an eye opening !! Sister hotel next door has a reasonable gym if you are feeling energetic, and there is yoga sessions each morning, some complimentary & some private, the Yoga instructor is fantastic, a pure master of what he teaches and highly recommended if you want to start or improve your yoga. Big thank you to Captain and his team of waiters in the restaurant - especially to Lakmal with his excellent service and smile ! -
Had an elephant visit the hotel one day and you can pay a small fee to have a ride on it, or get it to lift you up with its trunk ! plenty of excursions to go on, arranged at hotel or outside if you want. We did one to Kandy which was a full day with plenty thrown in. - Message me if you want any other tips or info !

Just returned from a 2 week Holiday in Sri Lanka. The Tangerine Beach Hotel is excellent. At first we was put off by having to sign for everything on our All Inclusive package but realised that it was because the Hotel does different levels of service I.E Half board Full Board and All Inclusive. The hotel is very nicely decorated and there is a lobby with a pond full of Koi Carp and other large fish. There is a lovely Pool where the pool staff happily provide sun loungers and towels. If you cant find one where you want they will go off and bring one to you.The Pool has a Pool bar which is good but could do with extra staff due to the amount of people wanting to get a drink. The day time entertainment is Fantastic and always something to do I.e water aerobics (which is great fun and something i did for the first time on this Holiday. there is also Boules and Crazy and mini golf.Have to say Shirly and the Animator team are fantastic and really friendly. We spent the evening after dinner relaxing in the Pebbles bar listening to the local bands. The Buffet style restaurant has very good quality food with Sri Lankan curries or Western food for the not so adventurous :) The waiters are very good and so attentive making sure that everything is clean and topping up your drinks etc. We have only a small concern and that is with the Beach. We feel that with such a lovely beach it would be nice to have sun beds available on the beach and maybe some lights on the beach in front of the hotel at night would make it really pretty. I think it is because it is a public beach and you do get approached by the locals trying to sell you trips and clothing etc.The Security of the Hotel is brilliant with security guards at the front gate and on the 2 gates to the beach. We can honestly say that we left the hotel feeling that we have made some very good friends with a lot of staff especially Pushpenra, Chamod,Sajan and Shirly.

Room Tip: No lifts in Hotel but only 3 floors anyway and ramps one side of Stairs for those who may need it. W...
