This was my first visit to Sri Lanka and this was the perfect choice. The staff are so very friendly and genuine and the rooms are spotless and well maintained. The beds are turned down each evening. I had an early start one day and the staff kindly made me a breakfast to take away!

Our 6th trip to Sri Lanka usually stay in Wiakkal. Could not fault it. Rooms spotless (shower was brilliant). Our rooms 107/108 were re-furbished and the decor was traditional and tastefully done. The mozzie burner was replaced every evening (not that we saw any in the room) and the beds turned down. Reception area stunning with antiques and ponds. Food excellent, would like breakfast and lunch in the coffee shop less formal. The staff were warm and friendly and nothing too much trouble. The hotel is undergoing work at the moment and when finished the dining room will be stunning. The toilets by the pool are also being upgraded as they are a bit dated. None of this work caused us any problems. The Manager Arju was outstanding and unlike many hotels was available around the hotel and made himself known to the guests - very impressed. If you want to do any sightseeing we would recommend Sankar, ask locally. Brilliant, taliormade trips, do your research on where you want to go and he will sort it, registered tour-guide. Would recommend the elephant transit camp Udawalawe much less commercialised than The Elephant Orphanage.
We loved this Little Gem of a hotel and would love to return.

Had a peaceful stay at tangerine. Excellent service, great food and lovely comfortable room and add to the icing my Senior Girl Guide from Visakha, Ishani as Guest relations officer made sure that we had the best of everything. We were honoured to be upgraded to a suite room by the management. Thank you so much.It is indeed a pleasure to enjoy a great holiday at such a place

Room Tip: Grear Room with the view of the sea(They were kind to give us adjoining rooms)

Just had my fifth trip to the Tangerine. Slightly different this time . I went a bit earlier than usual and was surprised to find it very quiet. I still got a wonderful welcome as usual, and a superb room.Had to endure two days of torrential monsoon rain and wind. It caused chaos to the pool and the gardens, but it was soon cleared up by all the lads, three times one day, and still with smiling faces. The main difference was that the food was served in the Supper room, and due to a combination of, shortage of space and lack of guests, the selection of food was not as variable as in the main restaurant. This did not detract from the quality one bit.
I still had my usual wonderful time, but I did feel sorry for the few people that were there, that they did not see the Tangerine in its full glory. I did probably bore a few people trying to explain how good it usually is. The place is still well looked after and the smell of polish is there every morning and cleaners everywhere, inside and out.
All I would say to any body who was dissappointed with their stay, please try to go back some time later and see it how it should be. I would not have been so often if it had always been how it was this latest time.
Thanks to all the staff who tried there hardest in a difficult time.
Best wishes, Mick.

We recently stayed at the Tangerine Beach Hotel for 6 nights on half board. The hotel itself is very clean, the staff are friendly and welcoming. The food was ok but pretty much the same every night, our room was ok but the air conditioning didn't work properly and every morning the walls and surfaces were wet (we tried several different settings as suggested by the staff) consequently all our clothes were damp and the dampness also got into our laptop stopping it working that was just after we'd paid for wifi (which was non-refundable). All in all it's ok, but not brilliant I wouldn't have wanted to stay any longer but we did quite a bit of touring with a local guide so weren't in the hotel much during the daytime so didn't use the pool, pool bar or do any day time activities.

I can't imagine that we would consider going back again.
