“Terrible service, find another hotel!”
Reviewed April 22, 2013

Nice location and good rooms can't outweigh the terrible experience of the unfriendly and unhelpful staff. Also really bad breakfast (it smelled bad in the resturant) with eggs boiled until they were green/gray. We felt like supposed criminals when we couldn't bring our bags in to the buffet. Plenty of noise from the bar at night until 12 midnight, earplugs not enough.

We stayed in about 9 hotels in Sri Lanka the past three weeks and this was doubtlessly the worst experience. If you can avoid the restaurant and the staff you can have a nice time in the garden but you're probably best off without this hotel. The hotel next to it ( Golden Palm Beach hotel) belongs to the same chain but we din't stay there.

Stayed for six nights in room 314 inthis hotel after a one week travel arround in Sri Lanka.
The service was really nice in this Hotel. We have a warmly welcome and all staff was very friendly.
The Room was clean. The reception was very frendly.
The Poolbar was very nice and the whole place very good.
The beach is awesome!

The only thing I dislike was the meal. When a lot of people where here he food was good but when less people where here the meals quality getter worser.
\All over i would come again.

Room Tip: we had 314 it was to the garden side and very quiet.

Stayed for six nights in room 314 and the room was clean and very comfortable. The hotel serves as a good base for travelling and there's lots to see and do in Sri Lanka. The hotel grounds are lovely and offer lots of shade. Overall the food was good – especially from the range in Sri Lankan Corner, but by 8pm some dishes needed refilling and were not. We found lunch-time the best time in the restaurant as it tended to be quieter. Would not recommend all inclusive - does not include wine which was a surprise to us and there's a pretty poor selection of snacks in between set meal times. The beach is good, but beware the red flag flies all year round and we were advised that the best time to go in the sea was in the late afternoon.

Arrived back on the 25th March after two weeks at the Tangerine beach, the hotel and grounds are kept beautiful and clean, we stayed in room 346 being high up it over looks the pool and the sea and is very quiet, good air con and central fan in rooms, fridge, hair drier, tea and coffee making facilities. The bed linen and towels are changed daily with soap, shower cream and shampoo also restocked daily. There is a plug in mosquito repellent that has a new tablet put in each evening. There is a good selection of food and the fact that there was 10 different desert at lunch and a different selection of 10 at dinner which change daily suited my sweat tooth, complements to Jagatissa the pastry chief. The staff are so friendly and could not be more helpful. There is not a lot in the way of entertainment which suited us fine meaning we were not kept awake at night by noise. We did two overnight trip with a guy called Sanka who run tours, he has a shop on the left at the top of the road from the hotel, he was excellent we could not have had better, he made sure that we saw and did everything in the areas we were visiting, he looked after us well, he arranges good hotels whilst we were away, great guy, great tours.

Just returned from 2-weeks at the Tangerine beach Hotel on All inclusive basis. First time to
Sri Lanka and enjoyed the country while based at this hotel. Food at the hotel is good with something for everyone, allthough some dishes at dinner were allready empty by 8.15pm (evening meal times from 7.30-9.30pm) this may have been due to other nationals exceptional appitite's, we occasionaly witnessed this feeding frenzy, however the empty recepticals should have been replenished as a matter of course, but when asked for this it took considerable time, so didnt bother after the first time. Part way through our first week the restaurant management started a leave your bag outside the restaurant door policy, (at breakfast) with security until you left, this i can only assume was to stop guests from taking food out of the dining room for later! Some waiters in the dining room were a little over zelous with the table clearing and took our empty dishes almost before they were 'empty', this happened a lot at evening meal time and on one occasion we were sat down at 8.15pm and fed and out again by 8.50pm, it was as if they just wanted to get finnished, didnt care for that at all. Towards the end of the holiday certain waiters competed for tips as they obviously new our holiday was almost done, i have nothing against tipping and did so to who i thought merrited it ie: bed man, bar men, room cleaner guy and certain waiters, but some waiters seemed it justified, just because they had chatted with me earlier in the week, i dont tip just for the privelage of talking and i think the management should be made aware of this! The only other gripe we had was as most other guests had, that was having to sign for every drink from water to beer to a G&T or any other drink, either at the pool bar or lobby bar or whatever, eventhough you wore the visible all-inclusive wrist band, this was time consuming and anoyed most guests as well as the bar staff, never had this anywhere else in the world on All-Inc, get your act together Tangerine Beach!
The Hotel has interior water features- ponds etc with large carp swimming etc and is exellent as are all public areas. Our room was very nice and recently refurbished and overlooking the pool to the sea. All in all a very good stay and enjoyable holiday, just need to iron out the niggly bits. thanks tangerine beach for a good holiday.

Room Tip: High floor, overlooking pool/sea

Just returned from 11 nights at Tangerine Beach Hotel. We had a fantastic time, friendly and helpful staff, delicious food, a great place to stay. The air conditioned room was beautiful and had a great view of the sea and we loved the goodbye message at the end of our stay. The rooms are not available until 1pm so arriving very early in the morning was tricky but we were offered breakfast and the room was ready by 10.30am.The grounds are delightful, we especially enjoyed seeing the wildlife also enjoying the surroundings. Lots of places to visit and so much to see, the guides are first class. You need plenty of small notes to hand when out and about. We also took a tuk tuk to the local town after negotiating a price. There is so much to see we will be returning to see some more of Sri Lanka.

Room Tip: Our room was on the top floor overlooking the sea -304
