Tangerine Beach Hotel

We are 3 adults who booked for 2 weeks at the tangerine beach hotel in November, the hotel put us in adjoining rooms overlooking the pool and very close to the sea and as with other reviews the waves at night can sound like noisy heavy rain on the roof. The rooms are spacious and clean the towels and mosquito repellent plug ins are replaced every day. We could not fault the food, plenty of choice,a curry corner,10 hot plates with veg, pasta, meat and fish dishes, salad table and a lovely choice of deserts. On most evenings there would chefs serving a carvery or BBQ.The restaurant staff are very attentive and friendly, if you get to know a few of them they will treat you very well and will talk about family and Sri Lanka(one even offered to take me on his motorbike to Galle to see a cricket test match, but it was against New Zealand so i declined),but if others know you are leaving soon more and more will try to "attend" to you for the chance of a tip, we tried to keep to 3 waiters who served us from the start. The water gardens are lovely and must admit we did feed the fish who will greedily take bread out of your hands.Never had a problem finding a sun bed, watched the chipmunks play, the water monitor stroll around and the very large fruit bats soaring. The beach is small and the sea rough there are plenty of annoying vendors trying to sell you trips,we booked a day trip with buddy tours at the green bamboo just over the railway lines. Cost £25 each to go to Galle via a Buddhist temple,a excellent boat trip,a turtle sanctuary,a moonstone mine and a tsunami memorial .Dulan the driver was very good and the trip was built around what we wanted to do as we could add on places to see and miss others as the day went on. Last couple of tips buy souvenirs from the shop on the street and haggle, there is a large shop set back and modern looking which well worth a look and for jewelry the Blue rose gems near the main road very.reasonable.

Room Tip: some rooms near the center of the complex can be close to the hotel generator. furniture is heavy an...

We visited Sri Lanka in January 2012. We stayed at the tangerine beach hotel. It was impressive. The food choice was very varied. If you don' like food too hot , avoid the red pots of the curries counter.you'll start sweating before it passes you lips. I can tolerate a vindaloo u.k.style, depending on the restaurant. The Sri Lankans could teach many other nations what hot and spicey means.
I'm sure you'll find something to to please you. Overall the staff are friendly, some of the managers are not quite sure what the word means. I requested a second room key but was informed that was not possible.(My wife likes sunbathing spa etc.) I like walk about, culture etc (call me a big old nosey Jimbo) On insisting I relly needed a spare key I was informed I could have a master key?
Crazy or what?Anyway overall I could recommend this hotel. Arranged a trip to Candy with overnight stay. Visited many places and learned many things. Avoid giving money to herbal gardens which they say is to help their students-Not so.
The trip overall was great and we came back to U.K.feeling as if we'd had a Holiday.

Room Tip: Our room was very close to the beach,so you could hear the serf crashing in. Sometimes you'd wak...

I do not understand the review titled AVOID from TDISportAaron and would question whether it refers to another hotel with the same name, also why wait 10 months to write the review.
I have been to the Tangerine Beach on 5 occasions the last time I visited was in October last year. The nearest road is at least 500 metres away and cannot be heard, I have never heard a generator. the pool is cleaned every day by dedicated staff who commence work at 6.00am, the food in the restaraunt is replenished constantly and I would think that 95% os the staff speak very good English. I did once here a guest complaining that there had been NO CHIPS
NO BURGERS OR PIZZA I asked him why he had gone to Sri Lanka if this was the kind of food that he wanted he didnt answer

Room Tip: All rooms look out over the garden seating area to the sea

Friends of mine and I stayed for a day, but it was too short to take a rest for a day. We wished to stay here longer if we had a more time.
Staffs are very friendly not like other places.
The sun set is beautiful as well. Hope to come back again :)

Room Tip: A duplex suite room is very comfatable

The WIFI is offered free, but extremely slow. The dinner menu is very expensive for what you get, 2250 per person. There were a lot of ruskys, who were very noisy in the pool area and dining room. The hotel is very well layed out. very little to do in the area.
