“Popular road side shrine”
Reviewed January 22, 2014

You will not miss this shrine on the road to Jaffna , as you approach Kilinochchi -- everyone stops here to pay their respects and the area was full of people and vehicles when we went there.

It is a holy place. According to legend, a holy man who died and was buried by a group of workers looking for water rewarded them with their desired water source . In thanksgiving they built a shrine here -- and it has been a place of veneration ever since.

“Spoiled shrine by RDA”
Reviewed November 30, 2013

Once upon a time it was a nice shrine and famous place. Now it is not that so. Because of the road developpment authority bypassed the temple and may be political and religious influence on it. Now the holiness is not there. I felt that when I visit last time. It was a very busy place once upon a time.

“A sacred stop”
Reviewed August 20, 2012

It's a mut-stop for most travellers on the A9 highway to visit the shrine to and from Jaffna to invoke God's blessings. A new vegetarian restaurant is now available in the vicinity for a qucik snack or a meal.
