The Jetwing staff at North Gate made us feel at home from the moment we walked into the hotel.

The Warm smiles and genuine concern of the staff for all our needs was undeniable. I must make special mention of the warmth and hospitality of Mr. Kohulan and his young and energetic team consisting of
Praveen
Thuthiraja
Nilayini
Sajeevan
Kasthuri
Jathusan

And the staff providing room service (who would constantly ask us if we were in want of anything). The attention given by them to all the guests at the hotel was remarkable to say the least.

Thank you for making our stay an excellent one and making Jetwing North Gate a worthy recommendation for all our friends and family.

We have spent 6 night's in Jaffna at North Gate by Jetwing. Everybody from the General manager, reception, restaurant & room staff have been extremely helpful & friendly, making our stay here a wonderful experience. The pool is an added bonus The hotel driver took us on two fabulous tour's of the north & we learnt so much, thank you. The General manager also organised for us to do Yoga & Meditation on the rooftop garden of the other Jetwing Hotel with a fantastic teacher another BIG thank you.The staff there were also lovely.
We feel very safe in Sri Lanka & Jaffna & the North are a must to visit; The culture, Hindu Temple's, affable people & great food make it a really special place

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself was really awesome. The food was very good. We had a great time. We saw a lot of new and historically important places. We will definitely come back.

Room tip: Rooms in the second floor facing the road are super, because they're closest to the restaurant.

One of the best hotels in town placed right outside of the Jaffna railway station and literally 5 minutes walk to town. The staff was very friendly, welcoming and attentive. Food was great, the rooms are very spacious and clean. The pool was very well maintained. Would definitely come back again.

ntially we had issues trying to get here because we didn't realise that it is literally next door to the train stations (not that you can hear the trains!).

We checked in and were taken up to our room.

ROOM: We had a king bed and a single. Plenty of room, mattress's were comfortable as were the pillows and like everywhere it seems in Sri Lanka, only a sheet.
Room itself was sizeable, plenty of storage and places to put things (e.g. day packs and shoes) and the bathroom itself was a good size. Shower could fit at least 4 people and still have room!
Balcony was massive, we were on the train station side, up the back and had a good amount of space. Not that we really used it as it's so hot!

DINING: Breakfast wasn't included however, when we worked out how much it would cost our family of 4, we thought it well worth it. Good range of Sri Lankan food, pastries, some cereals and waffles and eggs (whatever way you liked) were also available. Things also changed a little each day so you didn' t have exactly the same thing on offer each day.
We had lunch buffet when we arrived and we enjoyed that as well. We got stuck having to eat lunch and dinner there towards the end of our stay but I will explain more later.

POOL : Pool was one of the cleaner ones we have come across. It's also a decent length and if laps were your thing you could do them. There is also a ledge that you can sit on or the kids can play on as well as spa bubbles(!).

SERVICE: The customer service and housekeeping were so lovely and patient (especially with our 2 1/2 yr old) and nothing was ever too much trouble. They were only too happy to help when organising transport and trying to sort out what to see locally and price points.

CONS: NO shade WHATSOEVER anywhere near the pool. Given it's so hot in Jaffna and the sun packs a punch, may be something for the hotel to think about. Even if it's just a small area.

*NOTE:
We were staying in Jaffna and close to the end of our stay when the bombings occurred. Due to curfew being imposed and everything closing pretty much the instant it was announced, we had no option but to eat at the hotel. It does add up and become expensive, especially for a family of four. This is not Jetwings fault (obviously) but we had been able to keep costs down by eating locally up to that point.
In addition the management arranged for the local police to come and check the hotel to make sure everyone, including workers and guests were safe. We were asked how we were and if we were ok regularly.

Room tip: Corner rooms have bigger balconies
