If you're willing to look past some sanitary conditions, this place will make you feel like you experienced Jaffna like a true Sri Lankan. Good veg food, amazing value and great experience. One of those walk in, sit down, fasten your seat belt and no menu kind of places. You'll see what I mean.

This is not a fancy restaurant. It is a 'down to earth' place where people from all walks of life eat. It's a vegetarian restaurant. They don't use plates. The food is served on traditional banana leaves.

I had the rice and curry which was good. The prices are incredibly low and the service is very good.

All in all it is a great authentic Jaffna experience.

Its location is marked incorrectly on the Tripadvisor map (as at the date of this review). Check Google maps for the correct location.

Food is great, all served on banana leaves. Try the Masala Dosai - very tasty, and others in our party had curry and rice which was also great. Staff were very helpful and attentive, nothing was too much trouble for them. Milk tea was good and the price very good.

According to my mom, this place used to be one of the top eateries during the 1960-70s. The ambiance of the cafe reminds you of yesteryear. I had some food here in May 2012 and was very dissapointed. This time around (Nov 2013) the breakfast items (spring hoppers, sothi and coconut chutney) tasted much better. The taste and texture of the 'boli' has also improved. I'd recommend it to all.

This is not an upmarket cafe but the food was very good ; very reasonably priced & the staff is very polite & efficient and ever ready to oblige with any special request.
