This was the first time i did scuba and simply enjoyed it. There service was great and they allowed different levels of Divers to dive together.
The Beach infront of the Hotel and Dive shop is small but really nice.With an area of confined water that allows you to swim without getting tossed and turned by the breaking waves.
We had 4 really nice dives in Hikkaduwa, in a clear water, with a fantastic visibility. I had my first wreck dive there and I really enjoyed it, thanks to the staff and the perfect weather conditions!
Yet another great vacation at this Diving Station. A PADI 5 star dive centre that stands up to its rating.
Excellent centre for learning to SCUBA dive with superb instructors & facilities such as an enclosed coral reef for doing confined water dives.
Diving very relaxing with nothing too strenuous, even when there is a current it is not too difficult. Diving here is not for the technical. Ensure you pick the correct months for diving as some months the water is not crystal clear blue.
Dive guides very informarive & constantly point out things to see during the dive.
Staff are friendly & very helpful. Food at the centre is very good indeed.
Rooms are basic but comfortable. Superior rooms being built this year out of season. These should offer much more luxury.
I stayed 4 nights in Hikkaduwa at the Poseidon Dive Centre for the purpose of diving. the chef, the hotel staff and the dive staff are all fantastic and I had a great time. The rooms however are very, very basic. I believe I was in one of the NON renovated rooms which may explain this. The simple room was very cheap and I know that you get what you pay for, but the cleanliness of my room was below par with previous guest's hair on the shower walls. The food was excellent in the friendly restaurant here. Free wireless is available throughout. The dive centre has a very sociable atmosphere where guests and staff mix comfortably.
I've heard about Poseidon thru some friends, who visited Hikkaduwa last Dec. This might not be the most posh place, but I felt very well treated by the diving instructors, staff and all the local people hanging around. I had my first trail dive here, and felt I was in very good hands. Amazing experience, which might have coloured my view of the place. I had a pretty common room with an amazing seaview. No hot water, which I didn't miss, as the weather was hot to very hot. Ok bed with a mosquitonet. No A/C. I stayed for 3 nights, and some might expect the room to be cleaned during a stay like that, but I only slept in the room, so personally I didn't miss that. Food was excellent, and eventhough beers are not sold, you are still allowed to bring your own beer and enjoy it in the shadow, while watching the sea reading a good book, or whatever your doing. Beach is small but OK. A little more south the beach is better and more wide, and its only a 5 - 10 min. walk. You will not get a high amount of luxury here, but as a basic hideout with excellent diving oportunities its excellent in my view. Pricing is fair as well, and I ended up paying less than 20.000 local money for 3 nights, all my meals and a traildive. Would I go there again? Definately.
