After going to our fav restaruant in Unawatuna, and finding out that it has gone downhill, (the dinner was a big time dissappointment) our driver suggested we try this Refresh Restaurant.
i am so glad we did!
The entrance looked like there are many many waiters standing there bored because there werent enough customers, this got us a little worried, but once inside we realized that this wasnt the case, the place was packed!

We ordered lots of food, (there were four of us) and we didnt have to wait too long... the food arrived looking and smelling really good. and the best thing about it was that the CRABS WERE HUGE AND FULL OF MEAT!!!! (well... fish. lol)
anyways, gonna cut this short because getting hungry just thinking about it. the service was great, the crabs were really fresh and amazingly good. we went back a few times while we were spending our time in Galle district and all times the service was amazing and the food was unbelievably good.
The only negative thing i can think about were the groups of waiters just leaning against the wall and talking to eachother very loud while the clients are trying to have dinner or a conversation. A clear sign that the place was over employed! not cool :)

besides this, everything else was great! :)

Highly reccomended to whoever is in the area and wants to try some real fresh seafood :)

This is a lovely restaurant, used by locals and tourists. It's small, narrow, entrance, set back from the road doesn't look appealing but the restaurant goes back a long way and has a good section that is open on two sides and a few tables virtually on the shoreline. Food isn't as cheap as other places nearby but the quality is good and the decor (and loos) is better. Very large menu of both western and asian foods.

Had dinner here last year with group of 12. Food very expensive, quality of food mediocre, service lousy and uninterested. The only thing that is good of this place is the location. By accident, in the dark we went there again with a big group few months ago, and within 5 minutes our experience made us realize we were in the same horrible place again, where we had sworn neve rever to set foot in again! As an alternatove, we can strongly recommend Moonbeam Restaurant on the same strip with similar location, top value for money and very kind thoughtful service!

We recently dined at Restaurant Refresh, which is one of the best independant seafood restarants in Hikkaduwa.

They have an excellent array of fresh seafood, but make sure you ask the waiters to show you the seafood, as sometimes they will slip you a frozen piece of fish.

We went to their restaurant just this week, during the low season, and it is clearly a favourite of the more well to do locals and expat workers, plus tourists. The restaurant is right on the beach.

One point of interest is the Tsunami water mark which the restarant owners display in the main dining area.

The food is pricey for Sri Lanka, same as hotel prices, but good quality and a welcome respite from the same same, sterile hotel feel.

Good for a romantic dinner or a special occasion.

located in between the large Coral Beach Resort and the Amaya Reef resort, Hikkaduwa.
