My husband and I stayed one night at this hotel and we couldn't wait to leave. The only nice thing is that they take you in a rickshaw from the parking to the hotel and that was about it. At the reception the waiter "interviewed" us, which was quite uncalled for. We were on holiday and did not desire to discuss what we do for a living and how long we have been working in our trade etc. He was not friendly at all, just nosy. we were told that we were going to be staying in one of their best rooms with a jacuzzi. The room was quite large but not very well kept. There were stains on the pillows and the "jacuzzi" was so dirty we didn't use it. The food was below average. Overall not worth the money and very disappointing.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights in the end of November 2013. the room was a reasonable size, an old TV, old air conditioner and no internet in the rooms. the bed was very uncomfortable and the mattress was terribly difficult, although I informed the front desk clerk after the first night, they did not do anything about it.

This hotel has a lot going for it -- for example it is set within a mango grove and alongside a paddy field (the calls of frogs at night can be a little noisy but very atmospheric). It comprises a modern two-storey central block, with a superb 40-metre outdoor pool, and 6 four-room blocks set in trees along one side of the garden. The positive aspects are the quiet, secluded setting, which is good, and the window-walled bar (fabulous cocktails) and dining room above. The rooms are well appointed, with good bathrooms (each bath is a jacuzzi). The staff too are great and very friendly.

However, a number of flaws let the place down -- and if these were addressed, the hotel could be excellent. The self-service meals are wide-ranging and good quality, with both Sri Lankan and European dishes, BUT the food was consistently under-heated and sometimes even cold. The bedroom air-conditioning was very noisy and the curtains quite stained and dirty. The linen and towels too had a distinctly off-white appearance -- and for the whole three days the public washrooms in the central block had no hand-towels, which is unforgivable. We enjoyed our stay but it definitely fell below top class.

The hotel is nice and by arriving by night it seems like an exotic fairy. By day reality is that hotel is remote, it means calm but with no option for discovery if you don t have any car. The rooms are huge with balcony or terrace. Unfortunately lot of things are not working properly, light in the bathroom was defect, jacuzzi not working at all and fan as well as air conditionning extremely noisy. Breakfast was ok. I would recommend the spa, service was great and price very attractive. If you are just saying for one night on a journey perfect, but not for a longer stay unless you have some transportation organized.

The location was good, the facilities were ok. But it is a tired looking place that needs a facelift, especially the rooms and bathrooms. Fairly clean but cobwebs were still lingering, though it appeared that someone did come in to clean. The spa bath tub had a yellowish residue and an awful damp smell. Tried to use it but the water never drained away. Standing shower was very good, though. Dining was ok. Staff were polite and welcoming. But, if you needed wifi, it was only available in the lobby and there was a charge! Come on, this is the 21st century!

Room Tip: All are same.

We traveled to Dambulla to visit the famous Sigriya rock. We spent a couple of days in this "chilled out" place. The cottages are spacious. The swimming pool was functional, The reception area was equipped with wi-fi too. They could spruce up the dining services a bit. That's a minor issue. Ideal place for de-stressing!
