Amaya Lake is truly a paradise for nature lovers. It's very well hidden away in the green.
The hotel grounds are kept beautifully clean, without disturbing the wildlife that comes and goes as they please. We spotted some beautiful paradise flycatchers, giant squirrels, a couple of raptors along the river/lake.
The food was delicious and plenty of choice in the buffet.
The restaurant staff was super efficient and patient with our big group, much grateful.
Will definitely be back here.
The only reason i am giving this hotel only four stars, is because at first we were given lower category rooms than the ones we had booked, and there were people complaining so we wasted a couple of hours calling reception and having to drag luggage back and forth to the correct rooms etc.
But, definitely will be back.

Room Tip: Any room away from the reception or pool :)

Stayed for two nights. Room was beautiful - upgrade to a deluxe room with an enormous bathroom and stunning views.
All the staff are friendly and we were made to feel really special - well worth a visit. Food was excellent, truly relaxing place.

We stayed in Amaya for 3 nights. It was a perfect place to relax after busy working days. Room was well maintained, with all the amenities. The only issue was insects during the night time, it's was next to a lake so we understand it would be almost impossible to get rid of the insect but they kept doing pest control daily. Breakfast buffet was good and overall both restaurant was nice however they need to improve the food items as their were not many choices. They have many good sightseeing places near by. Prices for sightseeing was ridiculously expensive, we arranged one driver from outside and it was very cheap compare to the hotel rates. Sigiriya is a must to visit if you are at Amaya lake.
