“Living in the forest”

Our experience in Amaya Lake was unique. Upon arrival we were greeted with a welcome drink. Our room was a inside the forest and just next to a lake. There are lots of squirrels roaming around, but be careful we stumbled with a large black snake while videoing a squirrel . After all we are in the forest.I would surely go back to this hotel.

The Resort is by the lake side, very beautifully done with tourists in mind. Our rooms were extremely charming, with a small living room etc. The restaurant offers great buffet breakfast. But we had 2 problems. One the room was really at the far end and every time we had to walk and walk to our room. Second the housekeeing was very sluggish. Many reminders were required for a normal cleanup. So ask for a room close to the garden/lake/restaurant. Also, the place is expensive. Afterall it is in SriLanka, not Europe.

Room Tip: Ask for a room closer to the garden/lake/restaurant.

One of the best resorts we have every stayed in. Every room is a lovely cottage that is spread around this sprawling property. The set up is of a Sri Lankan village. The pool is amazing and the bar in the middle of the pool is outstanding. In the evening a flute player sits atop a tree house and plays the flute to fill the atmosphere with a lovely music. The restaurants are great with events planned every night. The rooms are well designed and spacious with the bed area slightly elevated from the sitting area giving a feeling of 2 rooms. They have kept the restaurant and other common areas away from the rooms giving the privacy needed. When we were leaving old ladies were playing a drum outside the lobby and were happy to let us try too. Overall, excellent experience, a perfect village feel, if you like that.

Room Tip: Every room is unique

Stayed here for a night with my wife and parents on a trip through central Sri Lanka. The property is vast and lush and amazing, with rooms scattered throughout. Exceptionally calm and quiet, rooms are well-appointed, but the bathrooms are a bit out of date. Nice sitting area leads to a raised area where the bed and bathroom are located. Be advised that most of the rooms are a bit of a walk from the reception area, pool, and restaurant, and that the paths are not that well lit. At night, you really feel as if you're in a natural habitat! A tranquil lake abuts the property and it's an easy walk there. Spa services are traditional and rustic (no chanting monk music), so be warned. But the massage was very relaxing. Food was quite good - I had a la carte at night, and buffet for breakfast. The reception area is open, airy, and exquisitely designed. It's a terrific welcome to the place, with views over the lake, lawns and pool area. The pool, however, is the real star. Azure blue, perfect temperature, clean lines, and a view to the lake down below. One of the best I've ever had the privilege of swimming in. The resort is set away from the city of Dambulla, so it's a drive to see the rock caves, or to visit one of the nearby national parks (both of which are well, well worth seeing). But that's a good thing, as it preserves the calm that makes the place special.

Really good spa, good food, and excellent service. They never tell you "no" for anything. It's quite remote and hidden, is better if you go in an excurs

This hotel has a nice setting, pool is large. Rooms are a little way away from the restaurant. Staff very helpful, a nice respite after a long day travelling.

In 2006 on our first visit to Sri Lanka after 11 years. My family along with 2 of my cousins and aunt went and stayed at this resort/hotel for 3 days.
Very relaxing and peaceful few days. Buffet style breakfast, lunch and dinner. Awesome food, authentic Sri Lankan cuisine available were mouth watering, there were also western style food.

The location is beautiful, very good to relax. Villa type rooms, very good condition inside.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me.
