This was an absolutely amazing place to stay. The host and his family are extremely helpful an their little daughter was the cutest.

We were welcomed with a tasty lime drink. The room was okay and the ac worked well (there were a couple of short power outages but they went by). Mattresses were a bit thin.

We got some great fried noodles for dinner and could even eat on the little balcony as we wished for it. Price itself was okay even though breakfast was not included (btw. we could price dinner and breakfast ourselves).

You'll have to watch out for the monkeys though. They are running around the house and garden all the time and are very curious. We did not feel threatened by them and it was cute to watch.

The tiny homestay has 2 rooms with double beds and en suite bathrooms. The couple who run the place are absolutely lovely and will do anything to help you out. The Inn is located a 10 min walk from the Dambulla caves, and a tuk-tuk ride away from Sigiriya Rock. The owner also drives a tuk-tuk and will help set up your trips if you would like, but is not pushy at all! The food is probably the best we have eaten in Sri Lanka, and for 600 r per person comes with water and fruit for dessert. We stayed for 2 nights and if i had time, I would consider staying longer just because the food is so delicious! The cost per night was 1500 r, which is way less than we have paid anywhere else for very comparable rooms. We chose no AC because we don't mind being warm, but they have an AC option. Overall, I would highly recommend this place. It is located in a very quiet road and it is extremely serene and peaceful. Watch out for the monkeys though! They are all over Dambulla and will grab your bananas if you are not careful.

This is a good choice in Dambulla.the owner Kumaru is always with smile.here is value and relaxable.the monkey come here look for food every monring,so funny and special.

Room and bathroom were clean, bed comfortable. The shower was great, hot and good pressure.
The price is very good (we paid 1500rps for 2). The rice and curry that Kumara's wife make is good and plentiful with prices to be arranged...
The house sits in a beautiful garden, peaceful and away from the main road but only 10 minutes walking from the Golden temple. The only disturbance you'd get would be from the troops of monkeys!
Overall, very worth it.

We stayed at the Golden Rainbow for two nights and were made very welcome by Kumara and Kusum. It was easy to contact Kumara to book (we used mobile phone and email), and he was helpful in giving directions, so we found the house relatively easily despite arriving at night and in the middle of a storm. The house is in a pretty tropical garden, set back from main Dambulla road, only ten minutes walk from the Golden Temple and Dambulla caves.

Our room (downstairs) was clean and comfortable, with a good mosquito net and en-suite toilet and shower. We made use of Kumara’s modern and well maintained a/c taxi to go to Sigyria (an amazing place) and made a visit to a spice garden on the way back. (We appreciated Kumara’s advice to visit Sigyria in the morning, as it was cooler and not quite so busy). The highlight of our stay was the Sri Lankan meal, prepared by Kusum, to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It was easily the best food we have tasted since arriving in Sri Lanka two week ago. Kumara was also helpful in getting us to the right place to catch our bus to Colombo, and contacted us promptly when he found that we’d left a phone behind.

This is a great and lovely family guesthouse, that makes you feel like you are at home. Caring family, clean room with hot water in fair price. You must try the great dinner, it's the best rice and curry we ate in Sri Lanka. We planned on staying for one day but we stayed more. we fall in love with this family. We will come again for sure!
