“Rewarding at the end of the climb”
Reviewed August 24, 2013

Very calm and peaceful up top. Lot's of budhha statues in 5 caves. Very good for cultural learnings and expereince. Best time to visit is late in the afternoon. Didn't go to the museum however. The entrance looked like a commercial/theme park type building though with a neon signage saying Golden Temple.

“Beautiful cave divided into 5 rooms - each of them is a temple”
Reviewed August 21, 2013

Most of the rooms are Buddha temples from various times. Beautiful sculptors - some of them made of bricks and clay, others are made of wood. Also on the ceiling there are Buddha paintings that look very similar to the sculptures.
One of the temples is for a Hindu god - Vishnu. Many ceremonies are going on and the place is rather crowded.
To get to the cave it takes a decent climb on steps. Be prepared and take water with you.
All in all: very interesting and recommended location.

“Worth the climb”
Reviewed August 20, 2013

This is an interesting set of 5 caves at the top of a rock. It is not a difficult climb but to see the Buddhas and the Bo tree is an experience in itself. Do give your shoes to a reputable person and pay for it! I wouldn't want to walk down the rock road without shoes. Start with cave 5 furthest from you and see how they improve. Views are good from the top.

“Stunning!!!”
Reviewed August 19, 2013

The exterior of this place itself is quite stunning....with a 30 feet tall golden seated Buddha statue set against the backdrop of green hills and blue skies. The recently constructed Buddhist museum is nothing much to talk about and can easily be missed. Climb up the stairs (should take anywhere between 20 minutes to 30 minutes) and reach the majestic cave temples. Remember to wear socks as you have to remove your footwear and the ground can get quite hot. This cave complex is quite stunning...nothing like I've ever seen before. Should be of particular interest to cultural enthusiasts and photography buffs. But even if you're neither of the two, and if you're in this area, do keep around an hour to hour and a half aside to visit these cave temples. Truly worth it!!!!
