I stayed here only one night,to visit Sigiriya and Dambulla, and Saman's guesthouse is a perfect budget place for this area.clean, spacious rooms with very nice bathrooms, very helpful staff and just 5 min.away from the Temple caves.Although on the main road,it's a quiet place.I wish the family all the best and can certainly recommend this place!

We were there just for one night, but it was a big surprise!

This guesthouse was reccommended by a tuk tuk driver in Kandy, and there we met Roshan, son of the owner, who speaks a perfect Italian, who gave us some tips about what to do and what to do not in Dambulla! Our room was really nice and clean and the food was superlative (higly reccomended, true sri lankan food)! The guest house is runned by the whole family and the owner( Roshan's father) is a very kind person.
They can give you all the advices you need to visit ancient sites like Sygiria and Polonnaruwa.
The building is very close to the Buddha's temple of Dambulla and has free wi-fi for all costumers!Prices are quite good and, anyway, cheaper than many more guesthouse nearby
Reccomended!

Buon Viaggio, Ciao !!

Stayed here for two nights. Rooms are nice. Bathroom had just been redone but no hot water. Price for the rooms is good and there is also free WiFi but food is quite expensive 800LKR for curry and rice 1000LKR for noodles. Staff were very friendly and helpful

We stayed here for 1 night to use as a base for visiting Sigiriya and the Dambulla caves. We had a non-A/C room towards the back and felt it was reasonably priced. The room was quite spacious for 2 persons and pretty clean. It was a little hot to sleep with the fan. The bathroom was good and in better condition than the room we saw with the A/C. The hosts were very friendly and provided good hospitality.

The location is in on the main road so it is convenient for flagging down buses but perhaps not good for light sleepers. It is a 10-min walk to the caves entrance. They also helped us book a reasonable rate for a tuk-tuk to Sigiriya (Rs1500 RT).

We had breakfast and lunch here. Breakfast was overpriced but they give generous amounts of toast. Lunch was a better value with generous portions again and a good variety that included several unique dishes we didn't see anywhere else on our trip.

Overall, this is a good place to spend 1-2 nights and we recommend it as a good value for money.

We did not stay at Saman's but had a delicious and interesting lunch at a very good price. The ingredients for that day were on display and the recipes explained to us. Very generous portions and lots of variety. We were there in early February 2013. I would go again.

We stayed at Saman's for 2 nights, it was very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was modern with the first self contained shower we've had in Sri Lanka! Although the tap promised hot water, we didn't manage to get any out - this is probably what we'd expect for the price (2500LKR per night).
The owner and staff were very hospitable and helped us to arrange a good value tuk tuk trip to Sigirya. Dambulla rock temples are within walking distance. The rice & curry was very good, noodles maybe a little overpriced...
Be careful of some of the tuk tuk drivers that meet you off the bus: ours tried to take us to many different guest houses before finally agreeing to Saman's (who refuse to offer them commission!)

The staff is very welcoming, they even came to pick us at the bus station.
Our room was clean and spacious, and very silent despite the fact that the house is close to the road.
The back area is rather nice to have a beer or relax after a long and hot day of visit.
And it's possible to eat at almost any moment of the day, although the menu may not be too vast :)
All in all, a good place to stay if you intend to come to Dambulla !

Room Tip: You should ask for the rooms on the 1st floor, they look quieter
