We paid $62 per couple for half board (breakfast and dinner). The room with verandah looking out on the lake was lovely. Food was excellent and made to order. Quiet, lots of birds, and wonderful, attentive staff. It was perfect for our three-night stay. We had a driver to take us to the cultural triangle sites and it was great to get bak to the MPS for a lovely sunset and dinner.

We had no idea what to espect as, although we knew the area (we've been the Sri Lanka many times), we didn't know this particular hotel.
It's set next to a lovely small (man made) lake a mile or so off the main Dambulla road and so nice and quiet. The views of the hill around it are spectacular. The chalets are clean and tidy, though the bathrooms could do with updating a bit (but don't let that put you off).

The hotel staff were really attentive and the service level was as good as the best hotels on the island. It doesn't have a alcohol licence so take your own with you and the staff will be happy to look after it for you (i.e keep it in their fridge!).

Don't miss having an early morning or evening swim in the neat swimming pool with really cool lights!

The location is fantastic, right on the lake, very peaceful. There is a swimming-pool as well but it was raining every day unfortunately.
The problem was the room. For 51 dollars a night, you have the right to expect much more. The bathroom was not clean, the shower cabin same and it looked old. The room was small and very basic. As the weather was bad, you want to spend some time in your room but it`s not the kind of rooms where you want to stay.
There was no laundry, you have to go to the village and we were really disappointed to hear that there was no alcohol at all.We would have appreciated a beer on the terrace in the evening.

On the positive side, i have never seen such a nice manager. He is such a nice, caring and helpful person, nothing is too much to ask, he will do anything for you and to make you happy. He has a genuine smile and a real one! The service he provides is so professional and so personal at the same time. I was sick and he brought me medicine and was so sweet. We left after 2 nights because I was feeling really bad and I wanted to stay in a more comfortable place and get closer to Colombo but we were sad to leave him. He is one of the greatest persons we met in our trip.
He shouldn`t change a single thing when it comes to hospitality and personality. But he should improve the rooms, especially make sure the bathrooms are refreshed and clean.

I was traveling on a tight budget and was looking for a simple room with AC. While the grounds are picturesque and the room a decent size there are to main reasons why I would not stay here again:
1. Hairs on my bed. After checking in, I plopped down on my bed to find at least 10 short strands of hair on my neatly made bed. Thank goodbess I had a sleeping bag with me.
2. My driver reported that his quarters were full of mosquitoes. Even with a lit coil, it did not help.

Two redeeming values however:
1. Friendly and welcoming staff.
2. Delicious Sri Lankan breakfast.

We traveled to Sri Lanka on a school Habitat 4 Humanity trip and stayed at MPS for a week. I have probably stayed in 50 different hotels for school trips and this is by far the best. It's out of town so it is quiet and surrounded by the beauty of natural Sri Lanka. The bungalows look out on the lake so you can bird watch from your patio (Yeah, Peacocks!). The rooms are clean and comfortable. The restaurant offers a menu with lots of variety so even after a week of 3 meals-a-day there, I was always saying how fantastic the food is. Seriously, I actually gained weight on a Habitat trip. Of course, the food, rooms and views are wonderful but it is the staff that makes this place rock. The owner, Nuwan, is the most caring and attentive hotel owner I've ever worked with. He was always trying to make our stay better and more memorable (although we never did get that cricket lesson we talked about ,, Ha Ha, next time for sure). To show how amazing the staff can be there, we did have one of our students cut his leg and had to be taken to the hospital. Nuwan and his staff drove us there and got us in and out of the hospital quickly and efficiently. If I had had to do that alone alone, I would probably still be there. He took us to the pharmacy and back again when we needed to change medicines. Seriously, he was an angel. He always helped us from his heart. He really loves his country and wants you to love it too. MPS Village is a no-brainer. Stay there and experience Sri Lanka with comfort and smiles.

We stayed here for 4 nights at the beginning of our trip in Sri Lanka and visited the cultural triangle. From all the different places we stayed in Sri Lanka, the service was the best here. The staff is really nice and try to fulfill every wish. The location is absolutly wunderful and very quit. The food was good, ask for the Sri Lankan rice and curry as this is not on the English menue. Nuwan, the manager also organized an airport transfer and a very nice driver with whom we stayed for the rest of our trip.
