The hotel is situated in a good place but you have to travel more than 10 kms from Dambulla city to get here, it was the only thing we hated. You can come in a bus till the junction and have to pay another Rs.150/- in tuk tuk to get to the hotel, Food was good. Nice surroundings. Service should be improved. we took the deluxe rooms, should have been more spacious, the shower was broken in our room.

Unfortunately we only stayed one night here but enjoyed the setting so much we cancelled our morning tour to enjoy swimming in the pool, relaxing by the lake, watching the wildlife, and cycling around the lanes. This is a simple hotel where we enjoyed a delicious Sri Lankan evening meal (we brought our own beer) and revelled in the tranquillity and friendliness of the staff. The rooms are fairly basic and the bathrooms tired, but the gardens, cricket pitch and setting more than make up for it.

The place is a little bit outside Dambulla; you have to turn off the main road at an easy to miss turn to the left (coming from Dambulla). After a drive along small asphalt road there's an entrance on the right. It's a good central place to visit e.g. Siguriya, the Golden Temple, Anuradhapura, Pollonaruwa, wild parc. Afterward each visit you can relax in this quiet resort.
The rooms/cabanna's have a nice terrace with a great view on the lake and mountains. Meanwhile you see squirls running around (sometimes on your roof).
The staff and management is very friendly and helpfull, and the dinners are very good.
The only small minus is that a bed with only a sheet is quite cold combined with the necessary working aircon at night. Providing blankets is advisable to keep warm enough.

Spent 3 nights here with a friend and we were pleasantly surprised, it not being listed in the Lonely Planet or Rough Guide.
We stayed in a cabana with a terrace overlooking the peaceful lake (all the rooms do).
There is a nice pool next to the lake with sun loungers.
The menu is quite reasonable with mainly Sri Lankan dishes.
They don't have an alcohol license but you can buy alcohol in the local town and drink it on the premises.

My partner and I had a wonderful 4 days at MPS village. The setting is wonderful with a huge lake, lovely pool and breathtaking scenery of mountains. It was very quite during our stay (I think there are less than 10 rooms) so it felt like the place was just for us. The staff there are brilliant and the food is excellent. It's a fair way from the hustle And bustle of dambulla streets which was ideal for us. Would highly recommend!

We enjoyed a great 2 nights here at MPS. When we arrived we were greeted with massive smiles and a complimentary drink while our reservation was processed. The manager chatted with us at length and showed great interest in our visit and gave recommendations on where to go during our stay in both Sri Lanka and Dambulla.

The room was a little dated but clean and comfortable with air conditioning and a TV (although all ‘local’ channels – none in English). We opted for a Deluxe room which had its own little terrace overlooking the beautiful lake (complete with water monitors which was saw a couple of).

We were the only guests in the hotel for the majority of our stay and particularly enjoyed having the pool area completely to ourselves. One member of staff was quick to rush out with a pair of towels for us, while another was regularly cleaning the pool of leaves just for us.
We ate in the restaurant for both breakfast and dinner twice, and lunch once. The local food in particular was excellent, and was far better value and quality than their western offerings. We had one small criticism of the service on the 2nd evening however, where one member of staff proceeded to watch a local soap opera on a television in the corner of the restaurant while we ate our meal! This made us feel very uncomfortable during our dinner and we cut short our time there because of him.

Overall, the MPS Village is wonderful, a little out of town but well worth the journey. The surroundings of the lake and hills in the background make it a tranquil oasis just a 5 minute tuk-tuk journey out of the bustling Dambulla town centre. Recommended.

If you plan to be in Sri Lanka and want to experience more than the beaches, plan to stay at this gem in the Dambulla area! We were there in March with a volunteer team, and everyone had a fantastic experience. Beautiful setting, very reasonable priced and the upgraded new rooms are wonderful. Food was great and the staff very accommodating. Close enough to Kandy and Sigiriya for day trips. Even though we were in Sri Lanka building houses, it felt like a vacation when we returned to MPS Village each night!
