Located in Kandy-Dambulla Road . 1km from Dambulla Town walking distance (500m) from Golden Temple

prices are cheap but services are Average (Room quality). friendly staff and management.. this rest house is renovated and management has been updated 6 months back so pls avoid past horrible comments.

Contains 4 A/C Rooms but the avoid the room near the managers office 1001 because dark and small (not worth for what you pay)

food is good , buffet is available for lunch(local rice and curry). limited menu in restaurant. Bar is available.

As per 15th April 2012 no generators are available in guest house , had to face a blackout during the stay.

Overall It can be between good and average cant say very good !

Room Tip: avoid the room near the managers office 1001 because dark and small and A/C is not working properly (not worth for what you pay)

This hotel is located in the township of Dambulla; It appears that this rest house earlier held by Britishers. This rest house is a very old building & little way from the town ship.

Rooms are ordinary & you don't get hot water for bathing; Rooms are not having AC facility & will be difficult for stay during Summer. Food is ordinary & you don't get good vegetarian food, even then prices are little high.

If you have no choice & for a short stay, you may select this hotel.

Only the food is good. Rooms are awful - Dingy with cockroaches and full of mosquitoes and warm stale air. No terrace in the rooms. Toilets are just like prison toilets

Avoid this hotel

We had booked 1 night at the Rest House (listed in Lonely Plane guide) in order to visit the Dambulla caves. The staff were very friendly and helpful. However, the state of the Rest House was dire. The smelly, dark and dingy rooms were made even more dreadful because the windows were all painted out. It was like the Taliban had re-decorated the place. What could be the reason to paint out the windows? To save on having window curtains???
We couldn't spend a night there and checked out and carried on to Sigarya. The staff were a bit embarrassed. We wrote a note to the Management stating why we couldn't stay there. I hope they read the reason and act on it.
The location of the Rest House is great for visiting the Dambulla caves. However, the caves take about an hour to visit (including walking there) and don't require an over night visit.
