Got the stay at Gimanhala from Agoda. The price was alright but I would not say it is all that cheap for the quality of the hotel. The rooms are clean but are quite old. The toilet in the room where we stayed didn't work all that well. There were ants in the toilet area. But overall, its comfortable.
Location wise, its right in the middle of the town area. Nothing much to see or eat at. But if you need to get some essentials, there are several shops along the main road from the hotel.
The ala carte food served at the cafe was quite nice except for the morning buffets.

Room Tip: The rooms nearer to the reception has better wifi connection but you will then have to manage with t...

We stayed for 3 nights and I'm glad it wasn't longer. Rooms are fairly nice on first impression but a bit gloomy (common problem in Sri Lanka it seems). After our first night there we found our beds ful of ants though that had crawled down the walls. We moved to a different room, got plagued by ants again but decided to just 'co-exist' with them rather than have the hallse of another move - I think they would have tracked us down again. Food for breakfast was OK - plentiful but not too inspired. Sri Lankan option was best with the 'western' option having completely stale cereals (we tried a few and all are completely inedible). Evening food was very poor and greatly overpriced. There's not a lot available in the area so we ate there in the evening and the quality really was very low - probably the worst we found in Sri Lanka.

Traffic noise was terrible here. Difficult to blame the hotel but it really was a problem all night long.

Room Tip: As far away from the road as possible.

Srayed two nights here. It's a big impersonal hotel with a great pool. The food was ordinary from a limited menu and twice the price of elsewhere. The room only has one power point. The pool is fantastic though, the location is great and there is a well stocked bar .

I recommend this hotel to everybody who are going with family or otherwise. Very honest, impeccable staff. From day one I arrived I was amazed at the way they had arranged for my two kids.
Breakfast was sumptuous and tasty.
Very close to all near by places and restaurants

Room Tip: Very Good and value for money

We stayed for two days there. Though the room was clean enough, there was no room service. We had to carry our luggage on our own and no enough tea or coffee in the room. We had to ask for them several times. Cannot comment on food, because not enough choices we had. But the soup was AWFUL! Not worth for what you pay :-(

We stayed here 3 days (ideal to visit Pollonaruwa, Sigariya and Dambulla). Staff is very friendly, rooms are great (and big), food is very good as well. And it is great to sit and relax at the side of the pool after a day-trip. Thanks!

This place is very confortale and clean. Staff is always smiling. The swimming pool is open from 7 to 18:30 to guests only. The restaurant is nice, with buffet formula (1300 per person) at lunch time and 'à la carte' in the evening. This hotel is a good base to visit Sigiriya and Polonnaruwa. You will not need more than two nights to complete the tour.
