We had a lovely Time in anuradhapura at senowin. The rooms are simple but Nice and the host is really Nice and welcoming. As she couldn't reach me she guessed the train i was coming with & organized a tuk tuk to pick me up! Very good value for money !
The hôtel driver nalim is also really Nice and will organise you a tour of the site

The comment from 6 march is wrong : this host does not prepare breakfast or dinner anymore.
Host gave us good advice on the bus connections and also the wat to visit the temple parc (with tuktuk). Noisy fan in the bedroom.

We stayed here a couple of nights in July 2015, and were extremely well taken care of by the charming landlady, Senowin, and her mother, who made everything to make us feel at home. When we arrived from Dambulla it was already noon. Senowin immediately called the bike agency and had two bikes ready for us on the spot. She drew us a huge map marking all the places we should not miss, and also recommended where to eat and drink. Unlike the itinerary in our book guide, the itinerary she recommended was doable and relaxing. The house itself is not very far from the sights of Anuradhapura. Our bike ride there was undoubtedly the highlight of our twenty days trip in Sri Lanka, and this was mainly thanks to the recommendations we got. We took a room with a balcony and air/c. The room was basic but comfortable and clean. At first we didn’t order breakfast. But once we tasted Senowin’s fabulous dishes at dinner, we immediately ordered breakfast. Both dinner and breakfast were the best we ate in Sri Lanka. Senowin is a fabulous cook, and the aubergine curry at dinner as well as the banana hoppers for breakfast were fantastic (Senowin emailed us the recipes later).
Travelling for us is not only about sightseeing, but also about meeting people. We felt very fortunate to have a long chat with Senowin and her mother and to hear about their experiences and also share stories with them about our experiences and travels. It is definitively a place we would like to return to, the next time we are in Sri Lanka.

Room tip: a/c & breakfast

Had a friend and me staying there and they treated our driver badly. I expect them to treat people nicely even if they are driving us around. probably lack the customer oriented approach that these people should take.

+ Positive
1. The house is near railway station and historical sites ( walking distance)
2. Friendly and helpful host. Provided me constructive local advice
3. Cute dogs at the house.

- Negative
1. Slightly overpriced for a room that doesn't have hot water, A/C and breakfast. It was advised at booking.com as 2,060 rupees. Then when it comes to payment it becomes 2,500 rupees as taxes were not included.
2. Noises from outside can be heard at night (temple noises and dogs fighting)
3. Odd colour room that makes the room looks dark
4. Had the hotel to organise tuk-tuk driver for me. Especially requested someone who can speak basic English and the lady said ok. Although my tuk-tuk driver was friendly and gentle, we were not able to communicate due to language barrier.

9/10 rating for the host's friendly advice. But 6/10 rating for overall score, due to the cleanness of the room, misleading pricing and tuk-tuk driver arranged.

Room tip: Be aware of the addition tax to be paid
