Out of Town

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jan 10, 2013
The rooms are one story villas spead out in the garden. The setting very nice and tropical. Unlike other reviewers I had no issues with the water pressure. The breakfast and dinner buffets were good, but over priced based on other hotels in Sri Lanka. The hotel is a few kilometers out of town, so without a car, you are stuck. At the end of the large garden is lake. It is obvious that elephants go to the lake, but we were never able to see them. We were there in the wet season and I was told the elephants are there only at night.

the Hotel is good, but teh staff need to be more friendly, the beds are not comfortable at all, the rooms are good, but mosqutioes are there if you leave the door open, water preasure is bad in the washrooms, the food was excellent, all in all it was ok, but not excellent, the land is beautiful and full of trees.price is a bit high compare to what you get.

Room tip: request for a room nearer to the restaurant and the lobby and pool, or else you will have to walk a long way

This is a lovely looking resort ...and on first sight looks like paradise ...but when you start to live there you see that this is a place that needs a major change in attitude and other elements !
The rooms are basic ..whch is fine ..but the towels are pathetic and the water pressure is always low ...particularly in the WC
The dining room works at its own pace and service can be rather slow ....drinks take a long time to come
The bar is very disinterested to make the guest feel cheerful and welcome ...The wine list is more about what they do not have than what they do !
The worst is the much touted gym ...which has an overload of equipment ...but no cross trainer ...and what is the worse is that they do not open the doors and windows as they say that insects will come in ...and the place is not airconditioned ...so how do you excersize is a closed non airconditioned place ??? where will the fesh air come from ???
The Spa is also very overrated ...there is an old man who tries his best with massages ...but again a major disappintment ...and when you book the spa ..you get strange tickets for massages ...on cash payment ...rather crude !
For the price one has to pay ...this place is really not worth it

Room tip: Please be prepared for a lot of insects and mosquitos....

This hotel has a huge pool and also a large garden. So, if you are an exercise freak, you would not be disappointed. There is also an area where you can quietly watch birds or wait for elephants to come drink water (if it is the dry season). It is very pleasant to have all this space and have it so quiet!
Rooms are also very big, but mosquitoes abound. So, make sure you take precautions before keeping doors open in the evening. We did not eat at the restaurant so do not know how it tastes. But, if you have access to a car (even a tuk, tuk) you can get a lot of local food in the city, which is much cheaper.
People are very nice, and the room service is good. So, from what I have seen, and experienced, I like the place.

Palm Garden is a place to relax and chill out. The rooms are surrounded by lot of greenery. The resort has own lake and nice large swimming pool. However, there is a bit of problem with mosquitos and insects, which is unavoidable in a jungle kind of atmosphere. I would love to go back to this property in future

Hotel is nestled in almost complete jungle.. Very huge area with natural landscape. Swimming pool is also of a very good size.
Rooms: very big rooms with a four poster bed, a small living area where the TV is and a separate bathroom. Rooms are clean and all the facilities were functioning properly, except tv signal wasn't very good on some channels.

Food is average in the restaurant but the pizza is very good... Freshly made in a wooden oven and snapped up the moment it comes out.
