After beeing welcomed with limonade and a safety briefing, we had an excellent lunch. After the lunch we went on a half day safari. Mr. Sumith was an excellent guide (he knows almost all the birds in Sri Lanka) in addition to taking extremely good care of us during our stay!
We had a fantastic dinner by the water, with a bonfire and the moon setting the mood.

I would really recommend people this place. Perfect glamping in the wild!

A truely lovely place with friendly staff, delicious food and comfy tent. If you are wanting a hotel room this isn’t for you- but as far as tented camps go this is as good as any in Africa! Staff were so nice- I was there in November so it was quiet and pretty much had the place to myself- never fealt unsafe though. Food delicious and made my own daal - thoroughly recommend the cookery lesson! And amazing safari!! We saw a leopard and I had a guide and drivers luckily all to myself! Magical trip - Will definitely return :)

Room tip: Tents were very comfy and clean and staff very friendly and knowledgeable. Thoroughly recommend a safari :)

Our review is based on never staying at a safari camp or taking a safari before. The camp is well managed. The tent was basic but clean and the bed comfortable. The evening barbecue was great and the staff were attentive. We opted for the early morning safari and the driver and our guide were great. They really made the effort to ensure we saw as much as we could, we saw all except leopards. It's a gorgeous park and we enjoyed the drive and the experience.

Have to admit this is a very difficult review...
Yes, Big Game Camp is basic, for my taste (who travelled lot in Africa) too basic.
While the tents are small, they are clean, however the bathroom is very basic and yes it’s dark...
However the manager and the staff are very motivated, they really try their best to make your stay unique, breakfast as well as dinner (barbecue) are nicely done with good quality. Willpattu in general is nice however we were not lucky with our naturalist.
If you can handle basic with a service oriented touch go for it, if not go to South Africa instead...

Dear GlobalNomadChristoph

Thank you for taking time to share your views on our product and yes, its the staff that makes the difference in the whole experience.
However, as we always mention "Luxuries" provided in the tent need to be perceived as having the understanding that it's a mobile tent opposed to a permanent structure of a hotel in Africa.

We had the pleasure of completing a half day and full day safari with the wonderful Sameer. He was so friendly, insightful and was great at spotting wildlife! We were lucky enough to see a Leopard, among 25+ bird species, a range of deer, monkeys, reptiles (including crocodile and tortoise!) and an elephant. In the evenings we looked around the accommodation for other animals and insects which was also really fun.

The accommodation itself was very much a jungle camp/camping experience and the meals were hit and miss. Our lunch during the full day was amazing however.

We would highly recommend this tour for people who are keen on seeing wildlife in its most natural and preserved form and aren’t too fussed about camping and being one with nature!

Thanks again Sameer,

Tess & Charlie
