“Good for visiting attractions”

We were here for 2 nights and was sufficient to visit the ancient attractions in and around anuradapura city. If you are looking for very basic accommodation for what you pay for then this place can be recommended.

We heard that not too many visitror traveling to Anuradapura but they go to Polonnaruwa and Dambulla. But ever since we started researching on Sri Lanka, we were amazed by what to see around Anuradapura and we always wanted to see it. We are so glad that we visited all the important place. the pictures looks stunning.

Anyone visiting Sri Lanka, visiting Anuradapura is a must.

We were taken here by our driver from a previous hotel...this was the only hotel so far that we haven't organised ourselves and I have to say we learnt a lesson! The rooms were damp and smelly, the staff weren't particularly helpful and I would only recommend the buffet if you get there early as it can sit out for sometime! On the plus side it is a nice location by the lake and is quite cheap but given our time again we would have looked around and gone elsewhere!

Our stay there was part of a tour through the cultural triangle organized by a hotel in Kandy.
The room was ok, the fan switch was broken, but an electrician came to repair it quickly when we've asked for it. Bathroom was okay. There were moskito nets over the beds.
The restaurant offered a very nice view over the lake with the chance to observe many birds. The food was also good.

So we checked out a few other places around town and decided to stay here as it was half the price of other lodging and had sky t.v and free wifi. We paid 1500Rs a night, the room clean and the staff friendly and not pushy regarding tours etc. The downside to the room was a very strong musty smell in the bathroom. We did not eat in the resturant as it was too expensive e.g. a pot of tea cost 350Rs. However, the resturant from observation did seem popular with Westerners because their drivers dropped them off here. The setting of the resturant is nice and if eating at the local cheap resturants is not your thing I'm sure this hotel will provide a good meal.

Had lunch here early in our tour and most had the rice and curry whilst i had the devilled pork. It wasnt as hot as i would like but fine for most western tastes. The R&C was quite tasty as i tried a few of them and some were better than others we tried later in our tour. They also went to the trouble of getting construction stopped on an adjoining site whilst we ate. Dont recall it being an expensive meal at all. Had to use the rooms for public toilet facilities so that could be a reason to avoid staying here and a reason for any cleanliness issues. We did not stay here so i cannot comment further on the rooms other than what i observed. Lovely view out towards Mihintale in the distance.

Room Tip: suggest not one near dining area if possible as it gets used as public toilet at lunch time

We stayed here to avoid the hassle of dealing with a pushy driver. Rooms are bad value, more what you'd get in a 5usd dorm room. Not clean, windows dont close (problem AC / mosquito). Worst was the food. We ordered a curry and were serve sth that was definitely not curry but rather sth undefined Chinese.
