We joined one day trip to fafa island.Fafa island is amazing, beautiful beach, well-designed resort. Day trip price included lunch, i like the pan fried fish and dessert was so great!

They have free plain water, but the staff looks not that friendly when i requested a glass of water from her.

Besides, staff were not enthusiasm at all. Quite disappointed.

This was one of the most special of holidays that we can ever remember. The fales are gorgeous - the staff is so kind and welcoming, and the food is simply great. We have nothing but positive things to say. If you are in Tonga, this is someplace not to miss....

PS: We were there two years ago (July 2010)

From our arrival till our departure 5 days later,Fafa Island was much more then we could have ever imagined. We hoped that my hubby's 60th would be a special memory and it was , in so many unexpected ways like:

Catching a Wahoo on his birthday & that evening the Staff presenting him with a birthday cake & a very vocal best wishes song to accompany it!!!!!!

The welcoming chilled Coconut drink on our arrival at our fale which was also enjoyed by our friendly Pukeko after we had finished quenching our thirst.(The wildlife always managed to make us smile)

Our beautiful fale with a ceiling of flowering bouganvillia in the bathroom & our own personal crab who fell into our shower tray 3 mornings in a row!!!!

First time experience for me to discover the beauty of the coral & fish within the reef of this special place

We seemed to have all 4 seasons during our stay and even our Island night experience was almost like a mini cyclone, but still the show went on and the fire show was held outside in the wind & rain.

Finally, this whole experience would not of been possible if it were not for the "People"!!!!! EVERY one of the staff contributed to our treasured memories:

House staff - delivering our lanterns every night & putting down the mossie nets, even spoke to one lady cleaning the windows in restaurant area of salt spray @ 6 a.m
Groundsman - Always raking the walkways & replacing all the sand after our storm and clearing broken branches
Chef/Cooks - We have 30+ years in hospitality, your food is up there with the BEST!!!
Transport/Skippers - Very informative re: History & lifestyle of Tonga
Front of House Staff - You are nothing short of " Amazing" always there to ensure everything that was desired was fullfilled from travel arrangements to food & refreshments.

Roll on next Birthday !!!!!!! We shall be back with family & Friends in tow!!!!
.

Room Tip: Our fale Nue was some distance off the beach and sheltered regardless of the direction of the wind.

On the positive side, the traditional fales are beautifully constructed and the gardens well kept. The food is good too and reasonably priced and the excursions are good.
The Tongan staff were very friendly and helpful but I thought the (foreign) management, apart from a superficial welcome, made me feel like I was gatecrashing an exclusive house party.
Unfortunately one of the Fijian staff made it very obvious that he didn't like the English due to our colonial past which if I had been in Fiji would have been fair enough!
I also thought it was overpriced.
I preferred everywhere else that I stayed in Tongatapu and Eua for a genuine Tongan welcome and experience.

Room Tip: Would recommend family fale for a group. Would not recomend single fale for single female as fales a...

Just returned from 7 days on Fafa island with 2 girlfriends. All of us had a great time - the staff could not be more friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. The food was great and the accommodation fantastic, beds extremely comfortable. Snorkelling is safe, well protected and the whale watching was terrific. Unfortunately the day we went out to swim with the whales it was very rough, making it hard to sight the whales when you were in the water and we drifted very quickly from the boat but the guide was very mindful of this and kept a close eye on all of us. Highly recommend this resort for honeymooners!

My second visit to Fafa Island (Sep 2010 and Sep 2012) and the quality has not diminished. Second time around only reinforced that Fafa Island management and staff provide the ideal combination of laid back comfort and professional service, with a setting to loose yourself in.

This idillic resort is very close to nature: beautiful beaches, open air rooms set in manicured gardens, parrots in the palm trees, and bats gliding through the night air. Warning, the sound of humpback whales can wake your afternoon siesta on the beach, and geckos (small lizards) can visit your rooms at night. If you prefer a sanitized concrete resort with a pool, this is not the place for you.

Make the most of the services provided by the resort; snorkel excursions, whale watching and island hopping trips. The staff can also arrange fishing and dive trips which can be helpful given their local knowledge.

The German management are extremely professional, but leave the front of house activities to local Tonga and Fijian staff. A delightful combination of smiles, genuine hospitality and efficiency.

Food is simple, clean, european/island fusion. The evening menu always features seafood/fish, along with more traditional european inspired meats or pastas. All the food is fresh and locally sourced. Prices are extremely reasonable for the quality of the food.

Step off the boat and embrace the charm of Fafa Island. It would be difficult to be disappointed!
