My experience with Hotel Theranda is an most unusual one. I am not going to deny my own mistakes in this incident, but to say the least the owners are unsympathetic, money hungry grubbers.

Back story is needed here. I found myself having to leave the house I was staying at, at 4am, due to my host sexually harassing me as I was sleeping on his couch. A fiasco went down at his house and I ended up packing my bags and walking to the first and nearest hotel I saw. Mind you I am traveling as a single woman.

I walked into Hotel Theranda and the receptionist at the desk was the nicest man. He not only calmed me down emotionally, because I was bawling my eyes out, but genuinely cared. The mistake I made here was when I asked how much a room was I heard "15 euros." And I agreed to it. I am not one to stay in hotels. I'm a backpacker. Also, when I have stayed in hotels in some parts of Greece I found myself paying 25 euros for two people in a fully furnished studio, on a few occasions. So 15 euros made sense in my head, in Kosovo, at a nice (not fancy or elegant) hotel. That part was stupid of me.

The next morning (I stayed there for literally 6 hours) I went downstairs to pay and was told by a different receptionist that is was 50 euros. I was floored. I swore on my mother's life I heard 15. The words 15 and 50 coming out of someone's mouth with an accent, sounds about the same. So I was told to wait for the owners. I could not and still cannot afford 50 euro/night. Meanwhile, the manager asked if I wanted breakfast. I was uncertain if it was included or not, but I figured I'd be paying something and if I had to wait, I might as well eat.

Breakfast was simple. 2 egg omelet, 1 slice of cheese, 3 slices of tomatoes, a roll, and a drink. Not very entertaining and not really worth my while.

I go back into the lobby and find the owners with an annoyed look on their faces. I asked, "So did you hear about my situation? Should I explain it again?" I apologized for my mistake of hearing incorrectly. But I also pleaded with him that I am sure he can cut me a break because this was a strange circumstance that no one wanted or expected. I told him that I came to Prizren to see and learn, but instead I was sexually harassed. He then looked at me with distaste and said "You come to my city and..." Honestly I tuned him out after that because I did not need a lecture. The manager chimes in and says, "And breakfast was 10 euros." For that dinky, mediocre breakfast?!!! What a rip off! I was trying to work out a deal where everything could be fair due to a big misunderstanding. So he said that I can pay what I can afford and he will make "his boy" (the receptionist from the night before) pay the rest. I again pleaded with him to not dock his staff's pay. I'm sure the receptionist doesn't make much money. The hotel is charging anywhere from 50-60 euros (I'm sure more) for one night. I was certain they could bend the rules a little, due to misunderstanding, miscommunication, flustered emotions, fear from being sexually harassed.

I am not trying to pull my single woman card here. But I was appalled with the owners lack of human kindness and understanding. No one wanted the situation to happen. I sure as hell did not want to be sexually harassed at 4am in the morning. These were the circumstances presented. I understand the hotel has no dealings and doings with my harassment. But my review here is the focus of lack of human kindness, compassion, and sympathy.

Let me ask you world, for those who have daughters, sisters, mothers, wives, and female in your life you cared about, and they were harassed and scared [--], do you believe any hotel (representing that city) would help if that person came to their doorstep? I am sure not only would a lot of hotels help out of pure kindness for each other, but also to make sure visitors don't leave their city with a bad taste in their mouth. Thank you receptionists and I am sorry for the trouble I caused. But the owners need to have some kindness for humans and compassion. And I definitely left the beautiful city of Prizren with a bad taste in my mouth.

Hotel Prizren has been recently renovated. Everything is new.
Rooms are spacious and very comfortable. Bed linen is luxurious and
beds are very comfortable. Bathrooms are very clean. Breakfast is very good,
they basically give you everything you ask for.
The best in the hotel however is the good attitude of the staff. It is a family-run
business and both the owner´s family and the employees do their best to please you and
solve all your problems. Our only suggestion to them is that they should be better informed
about bus schedules for neighboring cities. Apart from this, the rest is perfect.

Room Tip: Have a look at several rooms before choosing one.

Hotel "Theranda" is in the hart of the city of Prizren. Everything is near by: shoping , restaurants, bars and the pristine clear river. The people is lovely and very friendly. Night-life is exiting end very safe, there is no more serb police in every corner.
Hotel has a view to the historic old Ilyrian castel, so the name of hotel is from that time and language, albanian.
