Owner description: Located in the most prominent part of the Old Town, the Citadel is a 15th century edifice, which includes the remains of St. Mary's Church, terraced gates, several squares, and a building of the former army barracks.

The Citadel is beautiful. The walls and the view upon the sea can impress anyone. Walking around the fortification, you can almost touch the history of Budva.
The museum is small but it gives you a good idea of marine history.
There is also a chic restaurant inside the Citadel, I ate very tasty oysters there. It is best to go to the restaurant at night, although it may be a bit breezy (the tables are directly at the city wall that overlooks the sea).

After our tour bus went all the way up to the top of the mountain with 25 or 26 hair pin turns, came down, visited the royal palace which in now a museum and ended up in Budva. Beautiful sea side town. Wonderful area along the water, but most not original. Rebuilt after earthquake years ago. Lovely outdoor cafes Beaches stoney not the sand we are used to on the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico.

Medieval castle of the town Budva, dedicated to St. Mary, better known as Citadela, is the most monumental architectural object within the town walls of Budva. This complex building is architecturally utterly autonomous and presents one of the most significant fortification objects dating from the Middle Ages on the Montenegro Coast. Within the complex there are fortification walls, remains of the medieval church of St. Mary, gates, several plateaus and buildings of the former barracks.

The restaurant located on the first floor presents with its ambience and private dining areas an ideal place for private gatherings including high quality cuisine and special service. Attached to the restaurant there is a spacious terrace on the eastern tower with a stunning view of Sveti Nikola Island and the open sea. On the same level, on the western side of the fortress there is a steakhouse.

Citadela contains one of the most valuable collections of books and maps dedicated to the Balkans, in private ownership. Among the exhibits there is a significant number of unique books and very rare examples of hand painted historical maps. In functional unity with the library there is a spacious Gallery. During the tourist season, Imobilia, within its own program, organizes fine art exhibitions, concerts and projects of museum presentations. The space of Citadela is also available for the projects of Budva festival, Grad Teatar (Budva, Theatre City), one of most prestigious theatre institutions in the area of the Balkans.

The southwest of the complex contains luxurious apartments on three levels, which have preserved the rustic style and original features of architecture. Immediately next to the apartments there is a lookout with the view of the whole town of Budva on one side and its loveliest beaches on the other side.
