The big plusses of this hotel are its outstanding location (right downtown), the free parking (parking being particularly hard to come by in downtown Iasi), and the price.

The lobby is old and uninspiring, but the room had almost new furniture, was a good size, and overall nice. The bathroom was renovated recently, though the hooks were all shoddy (not a big deal but not a good impression either). WiFi connectivity is available for free, is of decent quality (though not usable for VOIP and the such), and features no blocked ports. Wired Ethernet is also available in rooms and works similarly. It overall sounds good but there are many little details that offset the overall impression and turned our experience into merely average.

The breakfast buffet is unimaginative and without much of a selection to begin with. Worse, the food is placed in the trays at the beginning of the period and does not seem to be ever replenished. One faces an ever-diminishing selection as the morning moves on. Sometimes decent (though not outstanding) coffee was available, sometimes all we could get was instant, tasteless coffee.

With the notable exception of the receptionist who welcomed us rather warmly, the staff seems genuinely annoyed at being disturbed by their clients but are otherwise efficient.

The big problem was the air conditioning, in the sense that there was none when we came. This was apparently caused by a hotel-wide problem, which got fixed early next day. The AC unit in our room promptly died afterward; which got sort of fixed, in the sense that somebody "looked at it," and then we managed to turn it on and leave it undisturbed (as as much as a sneeze around it will turn it off). Speaking about AC, II suppose it is adequate most of the time, but it is severely underpowered when the temperature outside reaches 35 Clesius (which happened during our stay).

Overall, the hotel is at the low end of its three-star rating. We might stay here again, though we will think twice before doing so.

Room Tip: The rooms on one side have nice views over the Palace of Culture, the other side offers an ugly view...

We checked-in in the middle of the night and the next day we chose to leave because my significant other didn't like the poor conditions! The reception staff almost refused to let us check out from the hotel. All in all it is a low cost hotel, don't expect much!

Room Tip: ask for a renovated room

The hotel is pretty old, but it is clean and welcoming, The staff is nice and always eager to help. The food at the restaurant is very tasty and it is worth dinning here. One good point for the hotel is that it is located in the town centre which makes it suitable for those wanting to visit the town.

Room Tip: Rooms to the east don't have a nice view

Our check-in at this hotel set the stage for an unpleasant stay. We were greeted (?) by a rather brusque, dismissive, suspicious, and cold, to the point of being rude, woman at the front desk. Upon inquiry, we were informed that none of the amenities, pool, massage, or sauna were available.

The elevator was tiny (barely fit 2 people and luggage at the same time), noisy and a little scary. The halls were draped in plastic (obviously under repair - although we never saw or heard any work being done) with barely enough lighting to see. Very creepy this place; somewhat reminiscent of Texas Chain Saw Massacre-Romanian style.

Although clean, the room was small and had wooden bedposts hidden (by bedspread) on the corners of the end of the bed. By the end of the first day both of us had various sized bruises on our knees and shins from constantly banging into them.

The bathroom was clean but also small and unremarkable. Note the proximity of the toilet to the sink in the pic. The shower had sliding plastic doors that you rolled together to a close. I was for a time "locked in” the shower since I couldn't get the poorly (actually un-) lubricated doors to open.

The hotel was quiet. In fact, eerily, spookily quiet. Except for seeing people at the breakfast buffet, we never saw even one other guest.

Ah...the breakfast buffet! It was nightmarish. First of all, the carpet in the buffet area was filthy dirty, wavy, and frayed to an unacceptable level. The food was minimal at best. There was not enough food for the number of patrons there and there was no sign of any foods being replenished. The staff that was there appeared to be an unhappy lot. The food that was there did not look in the least bit appetizing. The rolls did not taste fresh; ditto for the look of the cold cuts and the coffee was more akin to hot brown water. After our buffet breakfast we went out of the hotel for some real food.

I felt like I was visiting a hotel in Romania during the Cold War. This hotel exemplified what the picture of life in communist countries was often depicted as being: Cold, drab, impersonal, worn out with miserable staff who cared not a whit about the customers and only eyed them with suspicion.

The only saving grace to this place was the view of the Orthodox Church next door and the Palace of Culture behind that. At night both are illuminated and something to behold. As we took pictures of the church from our window we could hear church music and a choir. Delightful! but not the doing of this seedy hotel and its miserable staff.

We checked out (more like, escaped or ran out!) early after a few days of this and went to another hotel to complete our stay.

We would not recommend this hotel. There are far better places to stay in this classy, wonderful, vibrant city of Iasi.

First we met the Lobby toilet and we wanted to run away…
We asked to see the rooms before we checked-in because we were afraid that it will be similar to the lobby rest room.
we go up on the tiny elevator to the 8 floor.
The hotel is under construction so all the corridors carpets was covered with cardboard but when they open the room door we found a very nice , good size, Well furnished and very clean room. The bonus was the amazing view from the windows, the palace and the famous church were just in front of us with an endless country view . the swimming pool was closed because of the renovation .
