We did the tour where you go into one cave and exit through another 4 hours later. You definitely have to be a bit athletic and I recommend wearing pants (we wore leggings) because your sliding around on rock and could easily get cut. There's also an opportunity on the long tour to swim in the cave which was really fun(but really cold)!
A short walk through trees and a flight steps down leads to the entrance of the cave. Before the cave mouth there is an area to view the cave from, after which it is a steep scramble into the cave. I couldn't manage to get into the cave but friends who did got close up to the coffins which are stacked high in the cave. A couple were open and bones inside were visible.
a cool and refreshing way to explore nature. An adventure for the thrill seekers who always look for any possible experience.
As locals say, lumiang is literally cave in Kankana-ey, the national language there in Sagada.
It is a geological wonder; the calcite formations are the living proof that Sagada was submerged in the sea, hence there used to be parts where fish fossils (as locals also say) were found here as the Luzon mainland went up the ocean floor.
The Sumaguing and Lumiang Caves are living witness to the rich culture and history of the Kankana-ey people that has yet to be shown to the world. As sacred as it is, in every festival one part of the cave is used to house the pig for a week before the sacrifice. Since the caves have lower ambient temperatures, they were used as burial site only to be desecrated by treasure hunters and bandits.
The stairs going down to arrive in King's Curtain are slippery if you travel there in the afternoon due to number of visitors. Went here last 2013 after Bomod-ok Falls and glad we did visit this in afternoon and went out of the cave without the sun.
If you want a great caving adventure, you have to try Lumiang cavinqh connecting Sumaging cave.
It's a 350ft underground cave and it will took you two hours going inside.
Please wear your non skid water shoes better aqua shoes because most of the rocks are slippery and dangerous.
Wear something comfortable but not shorts because most of the activities are require sliding and you're prone to scratches.
Bring bottled water when you're going up it takes a lot of effort for this activity.
It is a slippery walk down to the caves and very popular with Filippino weekenders. When we reached the bottom we were a little underwhemed.
