Visited this site last November 2014 with friends.
A glimpse of Sagada's burial culture.
Wear comfortable clothes and sturdy slippers, the narrow path to Lumiang Cave is slippery.
A local tour guide is a must.
We did the lumiang cave and the sumaguing cave during the same day. If I remember correctly you begin with the lumiang cave and you finish with the sumaguing cave (without having to go out in between ).
We just had an AMAZING adventure ! It was rather physical ! We asked for that to our guide so he made us pass in tiny passages and everything ! You will need to go up helping yourself with a rope ! Be prepare to use your muscles ! We enjoyed every single minute of this trip ! A must!!
Great caving and historyexperience. I am talking bout the cave connection to sumaguing cave. They had warning signs about needing to be physically fit - that is true. Do not attempt if you have sizable belly since you wont fit in some of the holes you need to squeeze into. bring your own headlamp.
This is an extreme adventure!!! but you will definitely reward yourself after this activity. :)
You might have second thoughts if you'll fit in that hole but you have to!! :D
Try this cave connection and this is one of the many reasons you'll never forget your Sagada Tour. ;)
You should wear proper attire in doing this activity. The guides are really helpful so you might give him additional fee.
It took 3 1/2 hours to trek lumiang cave going out to sumaging cave. Why extreme? One must be physicallly fit to face the challenges like rappeling, rock climbing, waist deep water, slippery rocks, tiny holes... Guides would suggest wearing slippers but i wore my rubber shoes, don"t mind if it gets wet but it protected my foot. Wear long sleeves and long pants to avoid scratches. Not maong jeans bec you will have a hard time climbing up and down rocks. Shoes should be non-slip. Guides are trained. If you have headlight that would assist you aside from lamp carried by guide.
We were welcomed with hanging coffins on the entrance of the cave, We really appreciate the traditions of the native Igorots, some coffins are hanged on a high edge that we can't figured out how they put the coffins there.. If you really want extreme and spend long hours underground, this cave is for you!! This is a cave connection going to Sumaging cave, spent around 3-4hrs. Worth it for adventurous people out there!
