“Breathtaking Views Along Halsema Highway”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 3, 2013

Halsema road (Baguio-Bontoc) has improved a lot. Most part of the highway have been concreted and areas prone to landslide have been protected with mesh wire nets. During rainy season though, ladslides and wash outs cannot be avoided- there are standby dpwh people to clear the debris.

+factor: Breathtaking views of the mountain, the smell of pine and cool breeze

Tip: Drive Carefully

“Go North to the Cordillera Region of Luzon, Philippines for breathtaking scenes”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 13, 2013

As long as you have a good driver there is nothing to be concerned about unless you forgot your camera. Travel during the day though if you can as there are spectacular views galore - highly recommended!

“Drizzle and foggy atmosphere hinder”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 8, 2012

That was not the best time to view this scenery. It was even a special request to pass this way instead of the Ambuklao road back to Baguio.

There was a little glimpse of the view when were on the top overlooking the far distance in dark blue mountain landscape which was opened up a little bit and sun rays hit that portion of the mountain. I just gave a sigh of not fully seen its spectacular scenery as reviewed. But can imagine the wonderful sight it could have been if the sun is up and the white cumulus and the blue sky could have been the back ground.

Still a very nice experience seeing the vegetable terraces seen from the road.

“Scenic thrills”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 3, 2012

Great views of forested mountains, rice terraces and mysterious villages down in the valleys.
The road around Bontoc is surprisingly good but 90% of the Cordilleras has very poor, often dangerous, unlit roads, which sometimes just disappear - hence the perennial road gangs engaged in sisyphean efforts.
You need a sturdy 4*4 van or even jeepney to come with much of the terrain.

“A wild ride, not for the faint hearted!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 11, 2011

This is a really short review as there isn't much too say. This is the only way between the cities so its a must but try and find out if the buses are running before you plan anything. The road is prone to land slides etc. Its quite a scary and dangerous route but also extremely beautiful.
