This cute little getaway was chosen as a splurge in our otherwise cheapish South American adventures.
The room did not disappoint. Nor did the local opportunities for hiking.
However sitting down for meals and spending time in the communal house made us feel like out of place guests at a family dinner.
The place/facilities were lovely, but I'm not keen to repeat the experience

Thank You for your comments made about your stay at the Lazy Dog Inn last month. Of course we are glad that you liked the area and the Inn itself and sorry to hear that you did not feel comfortable or in a place you wanted to be. Not knowing your reasons nor the dynamics at the time; activities, guests who were there, our own business with Christmas and organization I don't feel I can offer any comments on specifics, which is fine as your comments maybe one of general feelings, observations. For all your reasons the type of communal setting was not a fit for you at the time and for some it may never be an environment they like. It is a gathering place, a mixture of people that for many has been a highlight , it was not for you.
Kindest Regards
Diana

We had such a wonderful weekend at The Lazy Dog Inn. Everything from the fireplace to the food to the company was just a perfect Thanksgiving weekend. We stayed with our 2 children, ages 5 and 3 who couldn't have been more delighted with the dogs, horses and our "casita." Diana and her team (including Micah!) were extremely hospitable and did everything to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. I highly recommend this as a perfect experience in the Peruvian Andes. The scenery and people watching around the Lazy Dog Inn is enough to keep you occupied for an entire weekend.

As a tip, we also stopped at Tato in Barranca on the way home to Lima and had an awesome lunch! Tacu tacu, ceviche and cerveza, it was truly delicious. It is located beachside in Barranca and is a nice halfway point to stop on the drive back to Lima.

Thanks so much for your response. It was a great weekend with families here for the long Thanksgiving weekend. We are glad that you and your children were able to enjoy the natural surroundings, animals and be away the hustle and bustle of the big city. You were even more gifted with having great weather too!

Regards
Diana, Micah and Staff

This is one of my favorite places in Peru. The location is breathtaking, the owners are wonderful, and the accomodations comfortable and homey. They also have an environmentally sustainable ranch and are teaching locals about grey water recycling, environmental sustainability, and management of the tourist industry. I can't say enough good things about this Inn!

Hosts are committed to making most of your stay. Lots of good advice about what to do. Help with organizing transport. Good food at mealtimes and pleasant conversation with hosts and other visitors around the huge dinner table. A restful break in beautiful surroundings after hectic travels around this fascinating country.

We decided to stay at the LDI following a rave review by our daughter who stayed there earlier in the year. Having spent 1 night in Huaraz City (Morales Guest House) to acclimatise, we stayed 5 nights at the LDI - and could easily have stayed longer. The accommodation comprises rooms in the main house and two cabins at the bottom of the field. We stayed in the Cojup Cabin which was very cosy, with a log burning fire. Guests are welcome to use the lovely lounge in the main house and breakfast and dinner (both included in the price of the accommodation) are taken at a communal table with other guests. Meals are cooked by local women who come in each afternoon and they were delicious; always 3 courses and made using fresh produce from the garden. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Inn and welcomed the advice they gave on great walks straight from the front door and other activities such as the 2 hour guided walk around the locality given by two sisters. We were impressed by the extent to which Diane and Wayne have given back to the local community too. You need to check out their website for more information on this. The only (verging on) less than perfect observation is that we were at the LDI whilst Diane was away on a trip to visit family in Canada and think this may have impacted on the quality of the cleaning in our cabin. Don't get me wrong - it was clean enough - but is was also clear that little or no cleaning took place during our 5 night stay. This is the only reason we have give 4, rather than 5, out of 5. We would definitely love to return and recommend it whole-heartedly.

We really appreciate receiving your response about your stay here. It helps others in knowing more about the Inn, area and activities. It is a wonderful natural area to explore and we never tire of seeing it each and every day. It was fantastic that you took the time to see the NGO's community project Yurac Yacu and had local young people take you on a walk. We also thank you for your kind donation to the center.

The women in the kitchen take great pride in what they cook and serve to guests. Your comment on room cleanliness has been noted and followed up upon. My only regret was that after so many e-mails to make the reservation, sharing of thoughts and ideas, having met your daughter I was not here to meet you. Who knows, there may be another time.

Kindest Regards
Diana
