We booked two day trips prior to our Santa Cruz trek. Santa Cruz was unbelievably beautiful! Our experience with Quechuandes was perfect. They were very professional. They provided top notch equipment (great tents, sleeping bags, etc) and transportation. Our guide, Edgar, was very organized, attentive to details, helpful, knowledgeable of local fauna and flora, a great cook (his food was absolutely delicious!) and was very respectful of our pace. Arriving at camp after hours of walking in cold and wet weather to be met by our donkey driver with hot tea and a snack was a delight...almost as good as being woken up with tea served at our tent, and a basin a warm water to wash up! Thumbs up to Quechanduas!

Booked the 4 day Santa Cruz Trek with Quechuandes tours for 2 adults and three teenage sons. This was a great trek as we drove to Vaqueria and then trekked to Paria via the Llanganuco Lakes. The 2nd day we hiked through the Punta Union Pass going through some incredible scenery. 3rd day we trekked to Llamacorral going via Lake Arhuaycocha which was a highlight of the trip because of the beauty of the lake.On the last day we trekked to Cashapampa. The trek was a The organisation of the trek was first class as was the guide Miguel. The food was excellent and the quality of the tents and equipment was first rate.In the office Marie was a fountain of knowledge who was helpful in not only organising this trek but also our 1 day treks such as Lago 69. Marie made sure we were well acclimatised before we set off on the Santa Cruz trek which is very important. She doesn't try to push people into paying for treks that will not suit them. The prices for the Quechuandes treks are very competitive and we will definitely use them again when we return to Peru next year. Highly recommended.

Our experience with Quechuandes was perfect.
We did Laguna 69 and Laguna Churup though this agency and both experiences were amazing.

Laguna 69 was a collective trip, and our group assembled people gathered from different agencies, but everything was perfectly organized and the pick-up at our hotel was right on time.

The trip that definitely confirmed that Quechuandes knows about the tourism business was the Laguna Churup.
That was a private trip and our guide (apologies to Marie, but I cannot recall the name of our guide) could not have been more nice and helpful. Laguna Churup is particular for the fact that the very last part of the 2,5/3 hour trip is a difficult and steepy part for which our guide used a rope to help us go through it. I never felt in a dangerous situation with him and in any case it would have never been possible to do this final trip without him.

Most of all, Marie, the agency owner, is absolutely friendly & honest…and cares about your requests.
She was there at our hotel in the morning at 7 for the pick-up for Churup together with our private guide and cared that everything went in order.
The day before, I forgot my snow hat in the collectivo for Laguna 69 and she made her best efforts to retrieve it and gave it to me the same day.

The above review might sound fake…but it is not. Our two last days in Perù were in Huaraz and they were just wonderful. Marie, thanks again. Hope to seeing you soon.

I don't even know where to start - everything about this tour operator impressed us. We went rock climbing with them, did the Santa Cruz trek, and the Pisco summit attempt, and everything exceeded our expectations.
As soon as you walk into this office you feel welcome, whether you are greeted by a trilingual Marie or a smiling David, the service is friendly, informative, and honest. Marie talked to us at length about the company's commitment to providing a knowledgeable, certified guide (our guide was Walter, David's brother, and we trusted him with our lives on Pisco with no hesitation), ensuring humane animal treatment (they certainly did - we saw donkeys from other companies that were painfully overloaded. We had 6 donkeys for our group of 8 tourists, guide, cook, and ariero), supplying quality outdoor equipment (our tents were downright luxurious), ensuring reaponsible ecological practices, serving amazing food day in and day out, and ensuring a well-balanced trek with reasonable distances per day without sacrificing the side trips to beautiful lakes (other companies will rush you to finish the Santa Cruz early - you miss so much!). All this, in a tourist industry that is incredibly competitive, with irresponsible tourism driving the prices down and the service with it.
We grew to have a lot if respect for Quechuandes, and we do not regret a single dollar spent, even if bad weather turned us around at 5200m on Pisco (it was still an incredible experience, and a great introduction to mountaineering).
I would highly recommended spending the little extra to ensure responsible practices and an incredible journey with Quechuandes (it is still SO cheap, and you get peace of mind, not having to worry about that mistreated donkey, that leaking tent, that small lunch box, etc.)
Great adventure - thanks for everything, we will be back for Huayhuash in a few years!

We chose Quechuandes for trekking in the Huaraz area after reading many good reviews about this company. In the correspondance with Quechuandes, Marie Timmermans was always very quick to response, very professional and very helpful. She had good suggestions about the treks we should do in order to aclimatize to the high altitude. The guides were good, the food was great, The equipment was always very good. We felt very sure with this company and have only good words to say about them. And, of course, highly recommend them.
