Stayed twice and the first time didn't realise we had been upgraded to superior room (102). Dodgy bedroom lights, substandard bathroom, needed redecorating. Second room was smaller but no worse as far as the rest went. On the bright side you do have kettle and drinks in the room and a hair dryer of sorts. The public rooms are nice, with free Internet, cabinets of curiosities, a library and free drinking water. There is a big garden too. But not attractive if you are next to the kid's play area. Breakfast was a bit odd and cost extra. Bread was terrible. The manager was most offhand.

Room Tip: Try to get upgraded!

This stunning hotel is hidden within high walls in the outskirts of the city.

We were a little hesitant at first as we felt the rooms were a little pricey at 200 sols for a standard double/matrimonial room.

However we very quickly changed our minds after experiencing the quality and standard of service offered here.

The rooms were lovely, very clean and comfortable and set within beautiful grounds.

We ate in the restaurant both nights we stayed and both times the food was wonderful.

The breakfasts were also great, full buffet style and eggs cooked to order (included in the price).

On the morning we were due to leave we had car trouble and the owner of the hotel spent a lot of time helping us liaise with the rental company and get a replacement.

Every aspect of our stay was superb, this hotel exudes class and the service from every member of staff was excellent.

We would definitely return

We stayed here our first night in Huaraz based on a recommendation by a travel agent. It was clean but WAY over priced (double what it should have been). The owners were kind but not very friendly. As a result, the staff is unfriendly. We left after the first night and found something equally as good with great service and half the price. They did have a good breakfast.

The guest can not give a bad review of a hotel and create a bad precedent just because of not being in or within reach of a personal financial budget, people need to understand that there are hotels to suit all budgets, more or smaller hotel service and different types in infrastructure and facilities. the guest can not compare the price of a room in a 3 star hotel with a guest house where he stayed after being in our hotel, because there are big differences between them. We strongly disagree with the irregular opinion of this gentleman, also indicates that the owners are kind but not friendly as are the staff and the breakfast was very good so we believe that this review could create confusion.

We stayed in Hotel Colomba for three nights in the end of July and were surprised to find that it was not as good as the reviews we read about it. The hotel is nicely kept and the rooms are spacious and clean. However, it was a surprise after staying in 4 different hotels in Peru to find out that breakfast was not included in the price. Moreover, the price per night is definitely high for Huaraz. Higher than what we paid for similar hotels (3 stars) in Cusco, Puno, and Lima. The most disturbing part is the attitude of the hotel. The reception staff never speaks ANY English, aside from the hotel owner that does speak good English. But she was rarely there. In addition, the atmosphere is not warm or encouraging. We asked for help with travel agencies and were introduced to a single agency that the hotel works with. No address or offices of this agency were given. When we asked about a bus company that will take us to Lima, we were directed to a single bus company. Visiting its offices and finding no space on the bus we needed, we were immediately directed by the bus company itself to the offices of the other two best companies whose offices were in the same block. As I said above, for a tourist who does not know Huaraz and its surrounding, like us, the cold attitude of the hotel staff and its lack of English were in complete contrast to all of our experience in three different places in Peru during our present trip.

I own the hotel Colomba and am very surprised by the criticism of this host, because:
First, as shown in our website, our prices always include breakfast buffet, which is very abundant.
Secondly, We speak English, and if the guest is not understood with our cleaning staff or reception, my wife and I, we intervene in the talks and try to solve any questions that our guests have.
It is very strange to say that the offices of bus companies that travel from Huaraz to Lima are in the same street, because that's not true, the offices of each of the bus companies are far apart in the city , and that's something anyone, searching the internet, you can check.
Also, when our guests ask about tourist services, we contacted the agencies that provide good service in the city, and usually, their representatives come to the hotel to offer and explain to guests about the cost and circuit characteristics. If they are unhappy with it, we give them the addresses of other agencies in the city, which are located in the center of the city. Your opinion is very strange

This is one of the best hotels we've stayed at during our whole south american trip.

- Excellent location, tucked away just a couple of blocks away from the busy main streets. It was so quiet at night, we got a great sleep
- Large, beautiful grounds, plenty of space to relax
- Very safe, the premises are very secure
- Breakfast was more than adequate, croissants, cereals, fresh fruit, hot coffee, eggs etc plus excellent pleasant service by the waitress
- The owners are very helpful and warm

Would definitely return.
