Wonderful natural site, situated in canyon between towering mountains alongside rushing river. Not a " touristy" place, but rather one to experience local culture, populace of all ages enjoying themselves and welcoming, helpful to us. Extremely reasonably priced.
Pathway through site is rimmed with local women in their village dress (& often children too) sitting around small fires cooking the local foods for purchase. There are also open- fronted stores, mostly offering items to be used at baths/caves. (I had not brought swimsuit in with me & chose to wear one, so purchased my "Peruvian" suit at one of the stalls.)
There are both private hot natural mineral water baths and private rock hot steam caves using the same water source. I had plan to do the bath, but ended up begging to do an extended cave time--- (Time in caves is carefully monitored by staff to guard against participant overheating.). The caves are small, fairly deep, and dark with icy cold shower/water source in each cave site. They are EXQUISITE! I was there three times in three days, and now back in the US, I long for the steam cave experience.
