We stayed for 1 night, the rooms are quite large for Peru, and quite clean. The pool and bar area is also nice and clean and quite relaxing after a morning of sanboarding. The staff don't seem to care about much, quite apathetic. we had to find track them down the next morning for the included breakfast, but the food was fine, just like every other Peruvian 'American breakfast' it was eggs coffee juice and bread and jam. At 120 soles it's quite expensive, but it is well maintained.

The hotel was OK - rooms rather clean, OK bed, hot shower, nice swimming pool with the views of the dunes, cold at night but as everywhere in Peru. The rooms and the owners luck some personal touch and some cosiness though - not a place i would like to come back to.
We've organized buggy tour and Ballestas-Paracas trip through them - everything went fine and as planned.

We stayed here one night and wished we stayed for several! The room was very clean and quiet, we had good wifi access in the room and by the pool. Lovely clean pool and still able to swim at the end of May!

Breakfast was generous sized and in a lovely spot. Dune buggy tours can be booked through reception for 35soles.

Highly recommended

Would be better off staying at the hostel across the way. The hostel is the best places to eat, and probably sleep as we didnt get much there. Tucan use this hotel as a basis to their tours. The service was sub-standard due to the lack of industry experience i believe. Their alcoholic beverages were well overpriced and under-par, but being on an oasis there is not a lot of choice. We left with a serious amount of bed bug bites, we were in a room on the ground floor, in the very middle. Felt like you had no privacy being on the floor level as you would open your door or curtains, and everyone can see in. Did a buggy and sand boarding tour through the hotel, but maybe ask around or even go through the hostel as they have more foot traffic to accommodate better service. I left my very expensive camera and bag at the hostel across the way. And after a very busy night at the hostel i turned up at 6 in the morning to find they had kept it safe for me. We did a wine tour which was organised through someone off the street who drove us, and was a very plesent experience. Took us all around the surrounding area and drank free pisco. (the largest winery in S/A was great too) Wine is terrible in S/A.

We originally booked two nights stay at Bananas, but when we arrived they were overbooked. I then visited pretty much every hotel/hostel in Huacachina and found Hotel Curasi to be the best choice by far (we were actually glad Bananas was overbooked). We got a double room upstairs overlooking the pool and oasis, with breakfast included for under 30 bucks. HOT showers everyday, all day. Awesome. Yes, the breakfast was basic, but the same as most free breakfasts - but it did include eggs (scrambled or fried) with no trouble or threat of extra charge, etc - so not sure what problem with the other posters had. The pool was crystal clear and not over chlorinated (I couldn't smell any chemicals actually not sure how they did that). We ended up staying there for four nights at the end of our month long Peru trip. It was a great place to chill out. The dune buggy trip was waaaay too much fun, it is a must do. The Ballestas Islands trip was also good if you have the time. I would definitely go back to Hotel Curasi and I have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone else - Nazca, Paracas and Ica are dumps and should be avoided at all costs.

One word of warning (nothing to do with the hotel) - we risked leaving Huacachina the same day as our flights home from Lima, there was a traffic jam due to an accident and the four and a half hour bus ride took over eight hours, the taxi from the bus station to the airport took an hour, and we nearly missed our flight!

All in all, our stay at Hotel Curasi was an excellent one. The perfect ending to our trip.

Room Tip: upstairs facing the pool have the best views

Firstly, Huacachina is a strange place. It must have been a stunning oasis 50 years ago but is no longer picturesque. Unless you have a great desire to sandboard or do a heart-palpitating, adrenalin-pumping ride over the dunes in a beach buggy or go sand-boarding you may want to give this town a miss. I had never seen sand dunes like this before so am pleased to have come but it is not the haven I expected.

Hotel Curasi is spotlessly clean with a pool the centre of a sem-courtyard. It is ringed by cellphone towers (poor staff....will they all be suffering from cancer in 10 years time?) The beds have a plastic mattress protecter on them which I didn't appreciate with the heat here.

Staff range from extremly friendly to surly and rude. But I think considering the high prices in Huacachina this is the best hotel of them all. And better than Ica which looked like a rather polluted, ugly town when I drove through. The museum there, though, is said to be good so will try visiting later.

This hotel was clean, hot showers and a decent sized pool in a good location in Huacachina. The upstairs rooms have something of a view over the lake.

Lower your expectations about the breakfast however - it's a separate business apparently and we encountered some of the worst food and service in our trip in SA to date. Rude staff arguing that we should pay for jam to go with our bread (really??), arguing that we'd have to pay extra for eggs to be scrambled, not fried, even getting another tea bag when the first one had already burst was a struggle. Only when we pointed to the menu on the wall, which outlined what we should get did they relent.

It's a shame - the hotel is pretty nice but each day started off with a massive struggle over breakfast. Do what everyone else seems to do, and go to desert night next door for breakfast instead. It's not that cheap, but the portions are huge, so you can easily share.

Room Tip: Second floor has some view of the lake, but are seemingly hotter than the ground floor.
