Many folks have rated this hotel low basing it probably on the fact that it is very basic, but given that it’s a 2-star property, it’s more than sufficient in terms of value delivered.

We stayed here as part of a 2-day Inca Trail trek...it was booked by our tour company. It’s a clean, comfortable, basic hotel and it’s just that. Beds are comfortable, heating in room, hot shower, clean bathrooms, free WiFi, soothing sound of the flowing river down below acts like white noise for a peaceful sleep. The reason I’m knocking down a star:

- Breakfast - Breakfast is included and starts at 5am (which is great coz most folks leave for Machu Picchu starting 5:30am). But the breakfast is a joke. Just grabbed coffee and that was it. No bread or eggs, just a couple of bowls of sliced fruit.

- Noisy - not the fault of the hotel, but the rooms have wafer thin walls and doors. There were several groups staying at the hotel, and we could hear noises coming from the stairways till late at night. After a long day of trekking, a peaceful sleep is a must-have, but it wasn’t possible for us. I finally had to get out of the room, and ask the groups to keep it down. Not something anyone wants to do.

Overall it’s a decent basic hotel with good service, staff is friendly and helpful.

Small hotel with excellent location next to the river. Very friendly owner. We had a clean room and the shower was working excellent. With elevator. Good beds. Good working WiFi in Lobby. Hot waters off Aguas Calientes within walking distance. We had a wonderful stay !

Aguas Caliente seems to exist only due to its proximity to Machu Picchu. It doesn't have much to offer outside of tourist places and bars. The Wiracocha Inn is located a few blocks from the main tourist activity and offers a clean, cost-effective option for what is usually a one night stopover for most people. The rooms are basic and clean with comfortable beds. They are a bit spartan with cold water sinks, but showers that felt great after the Inca Trail hike. Our tour company screwed up our reservation at the hotel, but the manager was incredibly helpful and accommodating and found space for us. The wifi was also very good in the hotel. Breakfast is included and basic. Overall, a good place to spend the night if you have to stay in Aguas Caliente.

This hotel was included in my 5 day Inca trail trek with Sam Travel where I'd been camping at cold temperatures for 3 nights...

Very comfortable bed.
Feather pillows.

If it's damp when you arrive just open up the bed covers and put the heater on while you're taking a shower and organising your bag etc.

My shower had water that was just about hot enough to be comfortable.

The toilet has a seat.
(You'll appreciate this after using the trails squat toilets!)

Soap and towels provided.

Breakfast available from 5am:
Fruit. Bread. Omelette. Hot water.  Coffee.

This is a great and convenient place to stay while in Aguas Calientes. It is located further up and on the same road that the buses depart from on their way up to Machu Picchu. Don't stay on the 5th floor however, as it is just below the kitchen and dining area. Lots of noise. The place is family run and very clean. I highly recommend it.

Room Tip: In choosing a room, express your preferences to the owners and they will do their best to accommodate you.
