“Not bad, but not great”
Reviewed June 9, 2014

My two friend arrived at 11 PM and the place was dark and locked. We specified on our reservation that we would be arriving at 11 PM, but no one was up or available to let us in. We banged on the door, rang the doorbell, and called the main phone number and it still took 20 minutes for the hostess to wake up and let us in. Annoying, especially at that hour when we had to wake up at 4 the next morning to catch the bus to Machu Picchu.

The room was very basic, and the bathroom definitely could use some TLC. The shower and sink both dripped and couldn't be shut off completely.

On the plus side, the free breakfast was really good.

Despite it's great location in Aguas Calinetes, Wiracocha Inn was underwhelming. The rooms were small and bathrooms need to be fixed up. The staff was very accommodating but the price is far too high for the barebones experience.

Moderate hotels can be pricey in Aguas Calientes -- we're a captive audience, usually there for just one night, often leaving at 5 in the morning. The hotel and rooms are plain and clean, but the location next to the river provides a wonderful soundtrack day and night. The breakfast is adequate. Best of all is the attention and care of the staff. It's a family-owned/staffed hotel and even with the huge daily turnover, they went out of their way to be accommodating. Rates don't rise during high season, as in most other lodging. Some travelers might want more luxury but for overnight at a reasonable price for Aguas Calientes, it was fine.

Room Tip: Facing the street you get LOUD noise from the river (I liked it) with the windows open, but with the...

We stayed here for one night in April before we went to Machu Picchu. The hotel is under construction - there was plastic sheeting hanging up and we had to use stairs that appeared to be temporary and not very sturdy. The breakfast just consisted of rolls, butter and cheese. The staff were very nice but I would recommend you stay somewhere else!

This hotel was little a comfortable, the bed was great and the rooms were average. I would have appreciate more cleanliness when it comes down to the bathrooms, the towels were too poor and the bathroom was very small. However the service was great and the breakfast was perfect for our day out to Machu Picchu!

Dirty, smelly and extremely overpriced! Would never recommend this hotel to anyone! Water was dripping from the ceiling, the sheets, beds and pillows were damp and smelly. I have stayed in hundreds of hostels, hotels etc., but this is the worst one ever!!!

Stayed here 1/17/14-1/18/14. Check out is 9 am. The rooms are clean bathroom is small but sufficient. Hot water works. Mattress is comfortable. The window was left open so there were quite a few flies that needed to be killed but other than that it was fine. Great location 5 min walk to train station. Very close to everything. On the same street as the bus station to MP. You can let the front desk know when you will be ready for breakfast. The older couple running the place are super nice and helpful. We had to stay an extra night last minute and they were very accommodating. Breakfast was bread fruit eggs juice cereal. I would recommend staying here for a comfortable simple stay. The only noise we could hear was the water from the river but it was quite soothing actually.

I read that hotels in aguas calientes were very expensive but i was very happy i found this reasonable hotel in a great location.
