“What a pleasant surprise!”
Reviewed June 29, 2014

Having read so many less than complimentary reviews on TA it was a very pleasant surprise to find a modern room (lovely view over the garden behind) with a comfortable bed, excellent shower and facilities, generally very good. It is in an excellent location for the bus to Machu Picchu and they transport your luggage to and from the Vistadome train....excellent service. Breakfast was satisfactory but dinner was disappointing......perhaps dine at one of the many restaurants that are within walking distance nearby. We weren't bothered at any time by the construction work that is going on, maybe only some rooms are affected, it will be a great hotel when it is finished.

Room was clean but small. Convient to bus, train and town. Breakfast and dinner was very good. We had a quiet room on the first floor. Busy reception area but efficient, courteous and very helpful. Probably the most respectful personnel during this trip.

Room Tip: Quiet room on first floor

Very nice hotel located within walking distance of the macchu picchu bus station. The hotel does a good job of arranging a boxed lunch for you to take up to macchu picchu. Early morning breakfast was very nice. Hotel was undergoing some renovations but was still a very pleasant place to stay..

This is a four level hotel in Aguas Calientes, Peru that is walking distance to the bus that takes you to Machu Picchu. I stayed in the fourth level building - on the fourth floor. There are a lot of steps to reach the fourth level (no elevator), and then the fourth building was so new that the hand rails were not installed until our last day. There is no elevator once you are in your building, so be prepared for a lot of climbing. Dining room is on the second level. Clean room, good food in the restaurant and friendly staff.

Room Tip: If you have a handicap, be sure to ask for a lower level room as there are no elevators

This is one of the upmarket hotels having recently had a huge refurb. great little hotel by peru standards, however for the price i would recommend a room elsewhere with a view of the river. especially in the wet season, you could soend hours watching the masses of water moving through. When eating get out of the hotel and just walk one block further and the prices literally halve.

Room Tip: upmarket prices, central location, i would stay elsewhere next time.

This hotel looked like a pretty nice hotel when we arrived, but as soon as we had checked in things went downhill. We were shown to our room, which turned out to be located in a not yet finished part of the hotel. Climbing the stairs to our room we noted that there was no hand rail in the center, leaving a large enough gap for a child to fall several floors. Next, the bell boy struggled with opening the door into our room, until he threw his entire body against the door with full force. As soon as we entered the room we realized why the door was stuck. The room was extremely damp, which of course had made the untreated wooden door expand so much it now got stuck in the door frame. The door into the bathroom was the same way, plus parts of it was covered with black with mould. Other parts of the bathroom were also covered with black mould spots even though it was clear that they had not actually finished the room yet. E.g the mirror was only helt in place by some temporary pieces of wood.

The safety deposit box did not work, and right outside our window construction workers were busy building the next part of the hotel complex.

I'm sure this hotel is perfectly fine if you get to stay in one of the already finished buildings, but the fact that they book guests into mould covered work in progress-rooms, says a bit about the management here i guess. they kniw Aguas Calientes is not a place you come back to and thus do not care much about the guests experience during their stay.

The hotel is situated in teh Ande Mountian with fantastic view. The rooms are comfortable and well stoctked with shampoo and the sort. However the resturant and bar are a different arena. The food is at best medicore and the is extremely expensive. I would sugges to go out the town and find a great meal with dicent drink prices. I would definitly stay at hotel again but I would eat or drink at the resturant.
