Very nice eco-conscious hotel with a restaurant (great food) and bar with daily happy hour. There's also some outdoor seating next to both the restaurant and the bar that is nicely adorned with candles in the evening. Restaurant service was great and everyone was friendly. The rooms are very comfortable and clean with warm bathrobes. They will provide extra towels for the hot springs as well. Good recommendation for your stay under the dreamy peaks of Machu Picchu!

You have to remember where you are and why you came...keep that in mind when you check-in and see the room. If this place were in the US it would be equivalent to a Red Roof Inn or some other place alongside an interstate or highway. Hopefully, you will be spending the majority of your time on top of the mountain and not in your room.

We found the hotel to be very attractive, and our room was comfortable. It was nice to have somewhere so clean and cosy to relax in after a long day's exploration. We were pleased to find bathrobes provided. The bathroom was good. The windows had insect screens, so we could get fresh air without mosquitoes. The room was a little small, with nowhere except the bed to sit.

The vegetarian pasta at dinner was rather stodgy and vegetable-free.

quirky...eco friendly...health friendly ( no elevators) well at least i did not see one...so you need to do all the climbing up and down the stairs...

well do ask your travel agent to be doubly sure when you check in and check out...just in case you got a early arrival or a late afternoon check out book in advance....else you will be sitting in its lobby...friendly staff...and you like quotes...check out the bedroom walls and shower curtain...there are pearls of wisdom every every where...right in the middle of the bazaar...has a great bar too... with awesome pisco sour...wonderful food...

its the entire package....go to machu pichu...stay at el mapi...

Room Tip: the mountain view or the street view...both are gorgeous...

We spent three and 1/2 weeks in various parts of Peru and this was easily our favourite hotel. The beds were exceptionally comfortable, the rooms spotless and the restaurant very good. The breakfast is especially fine. It's hard to have a bad time when Machu Picchu is just around the corner but the El MaPi definitely made our stay all that much more pleasant. My wife was sick at one point and the staff was very helpful. we weren't leaving until late afternoon but they extended her time in the room until we had to leave without charge. Definitely recommended.
