My daughters and I agreed that this was our favorite hotel during our travels in Peru.  The thing that made the difference with this hotel was the staff.  They were very helpful, friendly, and attentive to every detail.  Our triple room was spacious and had three comfortable beds.  We really enjoyed the dinner provided by the hotel.  The breakfast was good and enough for us to start our day. The location of this hotel is excellent - it is very near to the Peru Rail Train Station as well as the buses to Machu Picchu. The location and uniqueness of Aguas Calientes is really part of the charm of this place. It is the closest town to Machu Picchu and is situated in a dramatic location at the base of the mountain. The town is surrounded by rushing waters of nearby rivers and streams. It is a quirky town because Peru Rail runs through the middle down a main thoroughfare. Other travelers have mentioned that they were bothered by being next to the railroad tracks, but we did not find it was a problem. One way to avoid this would be to request a room that faces the stream on the opposite side of the hotel. Our stay was restful and refreshing. We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: If you want a quieter room, request a room on the stream side of the hotel.

We were 'ugraded' to this hotel as ours was overbooked. We were initially put in a twin room, which was not what we had requested, and so we asked if we could be moved. After saying they didn't have any other rooms, they then showed us a double which looked good. Well equipped, good decor and a modern bathroom, although closer inspection showed a lot of poorly fitted and broken fittings. Opening the curtains revealed not only the railway line(not a major issue as trains tend to stop during the night), but a few yards past that was a selection of shacks with turkeys, dogs and other noisy animals.

We got constant calls from arrival about what time we wanted to have dinner, to the point of harrassment - but their only offering was a high cost 3 course set menu, so we ate out. Breakfast was not bad, but not particularly good. Overall, staff were not very helpful but the hotel could offer a comfortable place to stay - would recommend eating dinner elsewhere as it would be better and much cheaper.

It's a very nice boutique hotel (small) not many facilities like some of the big cities hotels. However, staffs are friendly and helpful. We had a suites on the 5th floor, there is a Jacuzzi in the room with the river view. It's a bit pricy in comparison to some nice big hotel chains in some big cities. However, all hotels here are pricy.we stayed for 3 nights, rooms are comfy n cozy with good tv channels. Overall I recommend this hotel. Train station is right a the door, bus station to machu picchu only 2 mins walk.

It's definatelly a hostel, not a hotel.
The building seems to had an expansion done quickly and without a project, so it was not a masterpiece.
But assistance is good, room's clean and location is very good: close to train station.
Breakfast is quite simple,served individuallly.
Considering cost-benefit, is an fair choice.

Missed our train to Augas Calientes and so ended up reaching the hotel early morning. I was expecting the hotel to say that they could not help since the delay was our mistake but they more than made up for it by allowing us to use the room for the entire day. This turned out to be really useful as we were able to come back from Machu Pichu and shower and rest before taking the train back to Cusco. The staff was very accommodating and I really appreciate their hospitality during our stay.

We decided to spend a little more money for a hotel in Aquas Calientes and couldn't have been more pleased with the Casa del Sol. We have a river side room which was wonderful. The included dinner was a plus and it was very good. They even packed us a lunch for our day at Machu Picchu. The front desk personnel and dining room workers were all very pleasant. I would definitely recommend staying at Casa del Sol.
