“Why do they always want to give you matrimonial beds?”
Reviewed June 22, 2013 via mobile

The hotel is nice, breakfast is great. Bathrooms are very small, almost claustrophobic. Location is a bit further up from the train station so it's a bit of a hike. Had the worst experice ever at this hotel in terms of getting two double beds as we requested months ago. Instead after hiking all day we get to the hotel and both rooms are having single matrimonial beds. Even though they had empty rooms with two beds it took over an hour to sort out the problem. It seems to be common problem in Peru so I'd suggest calling two days before arriving to verify they will have the correct rooms for you.

BUENAS TARDES :

We loved our stay! We stayed in a suite (which they graciously upgraded us to because the matrimonial rooms were sold out) which was beautiful! It had a huge comfy bed and a beautiful jacuzzi tub. When we tried to fill the tub, the water was warm. All we had to do was call the front desk and they changed the gas tank so we could have hot water :) all of the staff were great! Our train was delayed and very sweet Viviana told us to relax in the lobby with free wi-fi, fruits, and non-alcoholic drinks. We highly recommend this hotel! Thank you Hotel La Cabana!

I stayed with my wife in this hotel for the third time last month and we were very well treated as always. People who work in the hotel are very kind and friendly. They are always ready to help you in any kind of situation. The most important for us is that the bedrooms are always very comfortable and clean. And the price is not expensive for the service that the hotel offers to you in Machu Picchu. It is not a luxury hotel of course, but if you are looking for a safe, clean, comfortable and not expensive place to stay, this is the hotel. I can't agree with the last reviews about this place, but if those people want to pay more than US$ 130 per day, then they must go to a luxury hotel, which for sure, in Machu Picchu, costs more than US$ 200.

Room Tip: We have been there in three different rooms, and we liked all of them. But there is no doubt that th...

We stayed there for 2 days. The hotel is way way overpriced for what we got but it’s Machu Picchu so they know they can jack up the prices. The room had no closet, drawer s or hooks and it had rained so we had wet cloths with nowhere to hang them up to dry. Room lighting was poor and there is no possibility to read in the room however they do have a large indoor lobby/ common area where you can sit. The bathroom was miniscule and you could hardly move inside and the bath fixtures were BLACK making it even more depressing. Overall the place was clean and they offer a nice breakfast buffet but unfortunately this was ruined by the fact that the bread was awful. We were in Peru for 3 weeks and always had fresh bread at breakfast even in the smallest hostals but the bread here was old and stale

I can't imagine why this is rated so highly in the rating of hotels in Aguas Calientes, unless the other hotels are even worse. I would not recommend anyone to stay here. We booked it on the basis of the Trip Advisor rating and were hugely disappointed and now question the value of trip advisor itself. I wholeheartedly endorse the previous comments: paper thin walls, dirty bathrooms, inadequate breakfast, indifferent staff, unhygeinic, etc..
Basically a glorified hostel and very bad value. The worst hotel we stayed in in 3 weeks in Peru. Pay more and stay somewhere decent or don't bother with Aguas Calientes at all. The Ma-Pi looked really nice! Stay there.

Room Tip: Avoid any in the first floor corridor, as you won't sleep
