After a 6 day hike this hotel looked like a palace to all of us. Great rooms, beautiful restaurant, amazing breakfast and, had it not been winter there, a great pool. The restaurant is surrounded by railroad tracks but that just adds uniqueness to the situation. It is just on the edge of town but the market is only 10 minutes away.

Room Tip: Our room did face the train tracks but they don 't run late and didn't bother us. There are...

Amazing property. Highly recommend. The hotel is a short walk from the train station and the vibrant marketplace. It has it's own lush campus like setting.

The rooms are in luxury cottages with high ceilings, fireplaces, and patios. The 11 acres are lined with walking trails, bird watching opportunities, and a bear rescue center.

The hotel restaurant has a nice breakfast and fantastic lunch and dinner. You could also walk 10 minutes into the myriad of restaurants in town.

I highly recommend this luxurious and romantic property.

A wonderful location to get away from the bustle of Agua Calientes. All of the meals were well prepared, service was excellent and our room was very clean. Our casita was next to the tea plantation and river, so we were able to spend our last evening before returning to Cusco sleeping to the sounds of nature. Memorable experience!

This is a wel-executed boutique style resort hotel. It is located in Agua Calientes and as a result seems to be generally used as a base for trips to Machu Picchu, or as a reward for those who have hiked some or all of the Inca Trail. It really is a stand-alone destination.
There are two restaurants, serving the included dinner. Both are very good. One serves a fresh, tasty breakfast.
Rooms are fun. They are like log cabins. There is an electric heater and a fireplace in many. Bathrooms are quite nice. There is some noise in some of the rooms from the train -- this is most pronounced in the riverside rooms as the tracks run along the river. Trade off -- view for a little noise. And the 5 minute walk from the hotel to the train station is also a plus.
There are two hot tubs and one very cold, unheated pool. The water in the pool is natural--it is like swimming in a pond. But it is clean.
There are multiple activities on site, from orchid tours (5 new species have been discovered on the hotel grounds) to bird and bear watching, to tea plantation tours. You need a day devoted to the property to enjoy these.
Service is excellent.
The only downside to the whole experience is one unrelated to the property itself. The system of bussing from Aqua Calientes to Machu Picchu, and back down from there to the town, has broken down. Waits seem to be routinely 1.5 hours or more, in each direction. As the Inkaterra is in the town, you need to plan for these waits (lines begin at 4 a.m.). Alternatively, if you are fit and motivated, you can hike from the town up to Machu Picchu. The hike is between 45 and 75 minutes in duration, depending on pace. It is really very strenuous. Rough hewn steps (rocks, dirt etc) almost straight up. We did it, and followed with a hike up Huaynu Picchu. This hike is much more strenuous than the Huaynu Picchu hike. But, it allowed us to make our start time for Huaynu Picchu which we would have missed had we taken the buses.
Our guide indicated that the hotel adjacent to Machu Picchu was overpriced and no where near as nice. It may be worth considering, however, for one night to allow easy access to the site, with a second night at the Inkaterra to simply enjoy a different experience.

We are very sorry to hear about your inconvenience at the bus station as this is not a common situation. A part from this inconvenience, we are glad that you keep great memories of your visit to Huayna Picchu.

I felt like I was a lost boy who entered into the world of pan. This hotel had magic oozing from it! The entire place felt like a sanctuary, especially after a long day of hiking the Inca Trail and Machu Picchu! This resort provided robes and flip-flops so we could relax in their hot tubs to ease our aching feet. They provided us with welcome tea and drinks as well as free afternoon tea and cookies the following day. We ate at the hotel restaurant for our one night there and it was AMAZING! Probably the best food of our 11 day trip in Peru. The service was excellent.

My only critique is that the signage for the rooms is a bit confusing and not always correct, so we got lost in the dark trying to find our room, however exploring the campus wasn't too bad :)

Wonderful. If I have to describe this hotel in a few words, I would say service in a great property.
Everything here is great. Lush gardens with lots of plants and flowers, specially the orchids and abundance of birds. An excellent restaurant which is also a must in town. The shop is better than most of the shops in town. Perfect rooms, villa style, with perfect decoration and a log fire waiting for you in winter nights or after those frequent rainy days of Machu Picchu.
There are lots of activities that can be arranged in and outside the hotel facilities.
The lobby is great for reading a book (lots of them at the bookshelves if you forget yours) and for that always present Pisco Sour in all of Peru’s bars and restaurants.
A real paradise after your trekking or whole day visit to Machu Picchu ruins.
The location could be the only problem. While it is very close to the train station, which means a very short walk at your arrival or departure, it’s far from the ruins. The only way to reach the ruins is using the official bus. The drive will last about 30 minutes and cost US$20 pp. There is only one hotel next to the ruins, all the other hotels have the same distance and bus problem.

the property is well cared for full of nature and great nooks and crannies to relax with a good book or a nap.Dinners and breakfasts were very good , and well prepared.
