“Beautiful spot for a visit to Machu Picchu”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 27, 2014

This hotel was our favorite during a recent visit to Peru (Lima, Sacred Valley, Cusco). We spent only one night, but would happily have spent more. Most visitors are (correctly) intent on visiting Machu Picchu, but the surrounding merit more time--a subtropical cloud forest with unique flora and fauna. This hotel has many nature tours, some free, that could easily occupy a day or two. Restaurant is excellent and reasonably priced.

Staff were always very helpful, well located close to centre of town, but also far enough away that you didn't feel you were in the middle of it. Eco-friendly location (no tvs in room!) set in tropical surrounds. Clean & spacious rooms, with open fireplaces. Would definitely stay there again. Quite an intimate location with loads of privacy.

Room Tip: you need to request a tv in advance if you wish to have one in the room as there is limited availabi...

We stayed here as part of a large group, the place is lovely, gorgeous gardens, heaps of orchids and birds everywhere. The hotel offers a number of free tours within the grounds and includes information about the orchids, local birds and spectacled bears. The food in the restaurant was really good and the service was good as well. Great location for exporing agua callientes and of course Machu Pichu.

This hotel delivered in every way. From the handling of our bags at the train station at arrival to the check out a day later, they knew how to take care of their guests. The property is integrated very naturally into the cloud forest and even has a nature walk on the property with guides that can educate you on the bears (yes bears [being rehabilitated back to the wild]), tea plantation, floral life, and birds that are on the property.

The pool is nice, the hot tubs were a treat, the spa was very good, the restaurants are among the best in Aguas Calientes, and the rooms are simply yet nicely appointed. The hotel staff were extremely cordial and made every effort to keep guests happy and pampered. The beds and bedding were very comfortable, the rooms were bug free and clean, and the feeling of nature surrounds you at this place. This is a 5-star experience in many ways. This hotel would be especially attractive to eco-travelers that want to be spoiled by service.

OK - this hotel is very pretty, and the food was very good. But we were charged $50 for an extra bed that we had advised we already paid for through our booking.com. We were stuck. If you are only here for 1 night - and you get in late and leave early, why pay this much? The beds...eh. Small, Ok, no argument except you could purchase an entire bed for what you pay for 1 night here. No TV, No beds large enough to share with your spouse, so expect to sleep alone. And the key they give you is larger than a purse.

Very pretty, but why the cost...and charging an extra $50 for a rollaway after paying this much money for the room is unbelievable.

Dear guest,

Thank you for taking the time to write about your stay with us.

As informed by our hotel staff and as indicated on Booking.com, we can accommodate an additional bed subject to additional cost that is paid at check in. We are sorry that this misunderstanding affected part of your stay with us.

Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel, with the look and feel of a rustic Andean Village, looks to provide travelers with an authentic travel experience. We are very sorry that we were unable to meet your expectations although a free upgrade was provided to this awarded property. Your comments will help us to keep improving.

We would like to take the opportunity to thank you for your kind comments for the design of our property and your good rating for our staff that is always willing to assist our guests in anything they may need.

Best regards,

We stayed for one night at this hotel after visiting Machu Pitchu. The hotel is very environment friendly. The rooms were very nicely furnished. The birdwatching tour in the morning and spectacle bears project tour are outstanding. Lots of green plants and trees. We had dinner and breakfast and both were amazing. They had several vegetarian entrees and the best item was quinoa pancakes in the breakfast.

A beautiful place not to be missed. Located at the foot the Machu Picchu, the hotel consists of several "casitas" along a wonderful "park/forest" featuring hundreds of wild orchids, many of them endemic, rocket-flying humming birds and all sorts of other wonderful, colorful birds. Skilled naturalists take you on nature walks and explain lots of details along the way. Special project for preserving spectacled bears, still in the park. The hotel supplies lemongrass in every bathroom and in the public toilets to protect the guests from mosquitoes. Nice shop selling books, alpaca wool clothes and silver jewels. Beautiful bar with fireplace and glass veranda dining room serving good food and superb buffet breakfast.
