“Ecological but lacks service”

Traveling to Machu Pichu was like a dream for me.... for several weeks I was wondering how exciting it would be and I chose the hotel that was considered the best !! Although it was very charming and well located, compared to other hotels in Cusco or enchanted Valley it could offer better service. We arrived very late night since we lost the train and on the other day we woke up very early to go to Machu Pichu so we were really exausted.... The checkout was supposed to be at noon but since we would be out we had to checkout at 8 am and they were supposed to give us some room to have a shower and change our clothes. Actually we stayed less than 12 hours at th hotel.... when we came back from the tour we asked for a place to change clothes and have a shower and it was not really confortable as they said it would be... we waited a long time just to have some towels and amenities, and so on... they pretend they are caring for the guest but the training is poor and it is not the service I expected.... that's really a pity that such a magical place doesn't have a real good service as it could be...

We stayed here for only one night. Overall a very nice hotel with nice rooms and beautiful grounds - lots of trees, plants and hummingbirds. We also liked that this hotel was eco friendly. No complaints but just didn't think it was as impressive as Inkaterra La Casona where we stayed next.

Just loved this hotel. The grounds are beautiful, the rooms are wonderful, the massage at the spa was great, the tea-picking excursion was fun, and, of course, it is right down the mountain from Machu Picchu.

Peaceful serene large property in a leafy setting. The town is otherwise pretty rickety- this is undoubtedly head and shoulders above any competition if you have the resources. I think it would appeal hugely to birders and nature-lovers.

Service is fabulous, food is great, room was smallish but well appointed. I loved the absence of a TV.It's cold there: they provided a hot-water bottle- a nice touch.

Retrospectively I should have stayed at a less expensive place and had an early dinner there and spent some time walking around the property.

Room Tip: It's a big property and some of the rooms are a bit of a walk. Check on this when booking.

This is where we stayed when visiting Machu Picchu a few years ago. I wish we had been able to say longer than a few days. The setting is lovely and the different trails around the hotel are worth the walk (especially the Orchid Trail). Our room was very spacious and comfortable and the views were breathtaking. Good food, good service, an emphasis on a "green" environment. Highly recommend.

For me, this far and away beats the hotel on the Machu Picchu site. It was one of the most magical places I have ever stayed!

DO NOT miss the orchid trail - and take it with one of the guides, early in the morning when the grounds are still wet with dew. It was absolutely enchanting. At night, after a day spent in the ruins, be sure to get a massage in the spa hut.

All in, this was a top pick for me.

Room Tip: I am quite sure that all of the rooms are wonderful - but the more remote the better in this place...

The InkaTerra is beautifully situated along the river at Agua Calientes. Others in the group decide to go to Machu Picchu for the afternoon, where we decided to enjoy the view of the river from the deluxe casita and take part in 2 excursions, available free to hotel guests. We took the Orchid Tour and the Tea Making Tour. Along the way on the Orchid Tour we saw hummingbirds indigenous to this area. The Tea Making tour allowed us to meet other guests from all over the world, sharing in a harvest by drinking our tea together in the comfortable lobby sitting area. The gardens are beautiful, and an extra day to experience e and enjoy the gardens and Spa would be a good choice.

The Casita overlooking the river was spacious, beautifully appointed with a fireplace and sitting area. The room was warm, comfortable and cozy. The fire was started upon request and all the amenities were superb, including meals at the hotel. Since we went to Machu Picchu in the early morning, our breakfast buffet was ready, very early, and our luggage organized for a quick return and change of clothes to continue our adventure to Cusco.

The staff was Super in all ways and the check in was very personable and professional. Decide to make the difference in your experience and enjoy the InkaTerra Hotel. It is worth any difference in pricing and it reduces your time and travels to one of the greatest wonders of the world. You will not regret this decision, we didn’t!

Room Tip: Don't hesitate, it will be worth it!
