We stayed at Hotel El Pueblo after our visit to Machu Picchu. It is walking distance from the train station. Even though the hotel is located next to the train station, it felt secluded. The hotel is surrounded by lots of trees. We had an upgrade in one of our rooms to a Junior Suite. It had a fantastic view of the Urubamba river. The room had a comfortable sofa with big windows that allowed us to enjoy the trees and the sound of the river. I'd wished we could have stayed longer. The surroundings are beautiful, and they offered complimentary tours inside the hotel to see orchids, birds and bears. We were able to see lots of hummingbirds in the property. They also grow and make their own tea. We took the Orchid tour and even though we did not see lots of them because it was not the season, we learned a lot about plants and we also saw an edible garden with local herbs. Our guide was a chef as well, so he explained the usage of these plants in Peruvian cuisine. Dinner was delicious so was breakfast. The Quinoa pancakes were awesome. We were amazed with all the details in the decoration.

We loved our stay in this wonderful hotel which is located right next to the train station. They will carry your luggages to and from the train station. Well organized staff. Even we check out early we are able to stay in lobby to enjoy free WiFi and access restroom. Excellent service! We stayed in Room 39 which I think one of the best located.

This hotel is on the upper edge of Aguas Calientes and is simply stunning. The rooms are superb, the staff, as in all Inkaterra hotels are excellent, the food is divine and the real bonus...this hotel has it's own hot spring baths.

This was one of the best, if not the best, hotels we stayed in during our multi hotel five week holiday in Peru, Argentina, Brazil & Ecuador.
From the moment we entered reception and were shown to our room the staff could not do enough for us. The eco-friendly experience and hotel nature walk with an experienced guide pointing out the bird life and flora within the "estate" was fantastic.
Two nights was not enough.
Room was great with balcony outlook but not intruding on others privacy.
Meals and service great

We were upgraded from a Junior Suite here to a larger one. It had a wonderful corner sitting room looking over the Urubamba River. Also a fireplace and wonderful bathroom. There were little things like loaning you iPods to play music in your machine, a decanter of Pisco (yuck) and more. We sat down on arrival to discuss what our options were for our free time. We decided to walk around on our own before lunch, and then we took a nature walk that showed us lots of wild orchids and parts of the beautiful property. We used a guide from Inkaterra to take us to Machu Picchu the next day. While we probably didn't need him for the Wayna Picchu hike in the morning, it was great to have him with us all day to show us around Machu Picchu. We ate dinner in the hotel, and it was excellent and well presented. btw... we arrived before lunch, when most people had checked out and were going to Machu Picchu. We had fun wandering around the property looking at the different rooms before people checked in to them after arriving on later trains.

We stayed in this hotel for two nights during our honeymoon. It was a little expensive and you could probably find a cheaper place to stay, but the hotel consists of little bungalows situated inbetween forest and paths, making it really private. The whole place is in a forest and has so many little trails, that we got lost several times trying to find our room.
The restaurant has a great view and food was really good. Complementary pisco cocktails were served at dinner.
Apart from walking via the Inka trail (and maybe white-water rafting), the town of Aguas Calientes is only reachable by train, and as you step off the platform you immediately walk into a large market with stalls filled with souvenirs. The sights and smells are an assault on the senses. It is a beautiful little town, we were very happy with this hotel.

When we arrived by train, the staff was at the train station to take our luggage and off we went up to Machu Picchu. On the return, they had our luggage waiting for us at the train station. The hotel was very eco-friendly, and the service and food was excellent!! Regretted that we were only there one night.
