We have eaten in all Tripadvisor recommended places in both Lima and Cusco on our trip for the last 6 days and this one in AC gave us the most satifying dinner. The place was hard to find but a policeman was helpful sending us there directly. Our trout main course and the potate cheesecake were excellent. Best meal so far for our trip. We would consider going back for another bit if time permits.

Aguas Calientes is the ultimate tourist trap, even by Peruvian standards (the train station opens directly into the tourist bazaar).
Chulpi is situated at the far end of the old railway track (now used as a staging area for trains waiting to enter the main station) and since the numbers on Av de los Incas are a mixture of new and old, if you don't know where to go, you won't find it (last building on the right if you continue down the tracks after the station).
The food is very good (short lunch menu - 45 soles, well prepared and presented).
Unfortunately for us, the interior was fully booked so we had to sit outside, which between the noise and smells of idling Peru Rail trains and the 6 "French" women at the next table with their smelly cigarettes, was not too pleasant.
Very few people smoke in Peru, so this was a first ....
So, make the effort to find it, but sit inside ....

I was very impressed by the quality of the food and service as Aguas Calientes is very much a tourist town with people passing quickly though the town on the way to Machu Picchu so was expecting low standards. The restaurant has a 3 course set menu at 45 soles or you can have a main course for 25 Soles. The menu is relatively small however it ensures that the food is of a goo standard, well cooked and well presented. Service was also of a high standard. Follow the rail track to Chullpi Machpicchu and you will not be disappointed.

I recently completed the pilgrimage to Machu Picchu and had the pleasure of eating @ Chullpi's. This restaurant came as a total surprise. Just to make a point- the food in Peru is outstanding anywhere- but this place is so remote...The restaurant is along the train tracks- used a few times a day only and when most people are away already. Its sort of at the opposite end to the train station 2 doors down from the police station. The entire town, its square and all 2 roads, has such an amazing setting. Then Chullpi's... The quality, taste, presentation -all is outstanding really., I wish only I had the pleasure to sample other items on the menu at other meals while in town.. That sums is up !!!

It was our first day there, my girl and I were trying to find a place to eat lunch, and the prices in the town's tiny center were really expensive and we wanted to find a place were I could get vegetarian food and something for her to try more Peruvian foo, so we decided to follow your advices and found Chullpi at almost the end of the street. Jimmy, the waiter, who was so kind with us, gave us a good Crema de Choclo, a delicious Tomato Ravioli, a Lomo Saltado and an exquisite Dulce de Lúcuma, with refreshing lemonade... Really good food and service! 45 soles the full menu and 25 soles the Ravioli, was on the average price in Aguas Calientes. PS: They need better Wi-Fi coverage, then everything is really good.
