Description: A contemporary family oriented casual dining restaurant located in the heart of the social hub of Victoria Island. Undoubtedly the best seafood South of the Sahara! Served in a relaxed atmosphere with service uncommon in these parts.

Strange as it may seem there are few seafood restaurants in Lagos and this South African chain is a welcome addition. Their kingklip is very good as are most of their fish dishes.
My only complaint is that the outside seating is extremely noisy and the atmosphere inside is a bit hot

Took the family here for saturday lunch. Lovely staff and nice to sit outside although it was bit breezy when we were there and there is some noise from neighboring building works. Prawns with stir fry, calamari, both grilled and fried and king clip and Greek salad were all really tasty. Couple of suggestions would include clips to keep table cloths in place, vinegar as a condiment and not allowing bunch of girls to lock themselves in the toilet to check their makeup and chat. V pleasant experience even though my heart sinks to know that despite a great local selection of fresh fish being available, all theirs has been frozen.

The advantage of going to a franchise such as Ocean Basket is that you already know what standard and quality to expect. Ocean Basket in Nigeria delivers. We had an enjoyable meal here. I'm a pudding person so it was good to find they had a decent dessert menu (I had the cheesecake). Hopefully, standards will be maintained.

Oceans basket was a really big letdown for me, kudos to the staff for trying to make guests feel comfortable. Thefood was really bland and did nothing for the taste buds. The fish was ok but the prawns were a no no. On the plus sideways clean and I liked the architecture.

If it were up to me, this restaurant would have gotten a much lower rating! Coming from South Africa, and having traveled to places where they serve truly authentic "frutti-di-mari", Ocean Basket has unfortunately, for me, become synonymous with packaged; processed; frozen seafood masquerading as this mornings catch.

Despite being a few kilometers from the Atlantic, the fish was not the freshest though, by Nigerian standards, very good and, most importantly, safe to eat. If you are familiar with the Ocean Basket brand, you probably will not be disappointed (yet not blown over either)(kind of like Mc-Donalds but from the sea).

In our case, the food took forever, even though the restaurant was not full. I, and a few from our table, ordered Sushi, only to be told some time later, that they had run out of tuna and rice. A few of us had to change our started order for something else.

The final insult came when it was time to settle the bill: their card machine was out of order and they mysteriously forgot to add some drinks to the final bill. The Manager insisted we pay in cash! At no time were we informed that the card machine was not working.

I have been to many restaurants and in some rare cases, what we ordered was not available. In such cases the restaurateur offered us another (sometimes pricier) selection at the same price. In this case, no such offer was made which disappointed me somewhat.

The fact that the card machine was not working irritates me. All reputable restaurants in Nigeria accept credit cards (even if by the old zip-zap voucher machine) and I find it unacceptable that a "popular" franchise restaurant like this cannot make alternative arrangements for their patrons.

Overall a real let-down for the Ocean Basket brand. I hope they find another bank and restaurant manager!

Furthermore, the security guard did not allow me to take photos so I cannot add any (really silly if you ask me!). However, the layout and ambiance is a copy-paste from any Ocean Basket in South Africa (and now the UK) so Google is your friend.

PS. The price is fair in Nigerian terms (remember more than 90% of what is on the table is flown in). In terms of food safety, there is no problem, you will not get Botulism!
