Sheraton Lagos Hotel
Ranked #16 of 134 Hotels in Lagos
Reviewed February 8, 2013

The Sheraton is to Nigerian standards a very good hotel, if somewhat pricey. It comes quite close to what you would expect from a Sheraton in a Western town. It is not too far away from Mohammed Murtala international airport, about a 15 minute drive. The lounge and bar area is very comfortable and service is outstanding. It is quite lively with many airline crews hanging out there. The check-in and check-out procedures were very quick. Changing money was also very quick at a decent rate - that appears to be the best way to get your Naira's - bring Euros, Dollars or Sterling in cash and exchange at your hotel. Breakfast was quite good as well, with decent quality coffee. We got a room at the club level with access to the club lounge, which included one free drink which was a generous helping of red wine in my case. Did not have a chance to sample the pool due to late arrival and early departure, but it looked fantastic indeed.

The room was well adorned with a living plant actually, free bottled water, a good choice of amenities and a coffee station - the only remark could be that in my case, the instant coffee sachets were missing - the seems to happen a lot in African hotels for some reason, so I brought some of my own already in anticipation and could make coffee quickly. Airconditioning worked well.

Room Tip: Rooms at the sixth floor have access to the club lounge which is on the sixth floor

Very nice stay. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Great terrace bar outside with evening buffet and really good Indian restaurant inside (try the Chicken Tika Masala). Also love the gym and tennis courts. You can play with the pro for small fee. Then take a dip in the pool. I will be back.

Comfortable rooms, cold air conditioning, friendly service, multiple restaurants and piece of mind make this hotel my top choice among Lagos' premium hotels. The terrace pool bar is well stocked and has that tropical atmosphere. The Italian restaurant cuisine is varied & delicious!

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the pool above the 4th floor are quiet & visually appealing.

You can't review a hotel in Lagos without a pinch of salt. I've stayed in 4 different hotels in Lagos over time and only the Sheraton and Protea in Ikeja are worth staying in. I'm sure there might be better hotels on Victoria Island? The rooms at the Protea Ikeja are way superior to the rooms at the Sheraton - worlds apart. The sheraton seriously needs a make over, the rooms are really old and dated. I always thought the food at the Protea was also superior to the Sheraton, but after my last visit, I think the Sheraton outshines the Protea in the food department - more restaurants, better quality and variety.
Probably the big draw card to the Sheraton Is the very large pool area to laze around when you finish with business. Of course the Protea has a pool too, but the Sheraton is such that you forget that you in Lagos.
So it's a tough call, because despite the old rooms at the Sheraton, the Sheraton might be my choice when I return because of the pool and food....

Without a doubt the best hotel in ikeja, food is great, rooms are spacious and the service unbeatable! The pool is a great tip for those with an evening flight and wanting to avoid a) lagos go slow or b) being stuck at the airport for 5 hours just to be on the safe side.

Room Tip: Spg or club level

Had a one night stay at the Sheraton in Lagos.
It took us approx. 1 our to get from the airport to the hotel, even though its just 15 km away, the traffic is insane !!
Being there for the first time, the roads and surroundings reminded me of Kathmandu, hectic, dirty but interesting :)
Reached the hotel. Nothing around there, seriously nothing, just the hotel. Check in was quick and the rooms surprised me, I guess they just got refurbished recently...however, the bathroom was a bit of a disaster, not matching the standards...dirty, hair in the tub and not clean at all...hope they start soon to renovate the bathrooms...
I felt safe in the hotel, there was a security guard on each floor...the pub downstairs offers drinks and snacks for very high prices ( guess the hotel management takes advantage of people like me that stay there ) , but waiter was friendly.

Internet was fast and I had no probs. heard from colleagues that the breakfast buffet is overpriced for the selection they offer, will check it out on my next stay ;)

What I did enjoy was the pool area and walking track. I also enjoyed the shower, incredible shower power which was much lacking at a previous hotel we stayed in Lagos.

I didn't enjoy the compound "fortress" feeling of the hotel. Once you check in, you feel stuck. There is nothing nearby to walk to or restaurants.

The hotel food is average and yes, the rooms are quite dated.
