A slightly strange hotel meadering around some gardens and semi-indoor floorbeds, this hotel is situated 15mins from the International terminal around 3500-4000N by taxi.
Checkin is freindly and budget rooms around 17-19000N competitively priced for Lagos. The rooms have all recently been repainted and are always clean and insect free. The fittings are a little shaky, but TV works, wi-fi in all rooms and there is a really nice pool at the back, and always empty. Beyound one 'algae' period a year ago I've swam here for the past eight years with no problem. Forget the advertised gym however its a store room now.
The restaurant serves beer and both western and african food. Service can be excruciatingly slow, but once it comes its good fare. Fish/Chicken and chips a good choice, and ketchup available, but the egusi soup and pounded yam has the edge, and a lot more filling.
The hotel can change money at good rates and has a taxi to the airport, (ask for 'chairman') .
The taxi is more of an experience than an a car, but he means well..
Overall a good choice for a budget stay and relaxing. Always ask for a room at the rear overlooking the pool, as the standard side rooms overlook a generator house, and front rooms get the noise of traffic and the railway. REMEMBER this is a locally owned hotel and has the whimsy of such, but with the pool, its a safe port in the storm of Lagos.
