If you visit this hotel, you're likely to keep visiting. So beware! Right from the door, the very air of this hotel pampers you. Now the hotel doesn't necessarily have the most happy-faced staff (some are downright dour), but they're generally polite. Whatever is lost to the countenance of staff, however, is more than made up for by the general atmosphere of this hotel - the decor is exquisite, the lobby expansive. The outside bar gives you a lovely view of the water. The return time for your orders may drag some, so I always order a drink to bide the time - it may well be what the whole idea is about! I've done their buffet a few times. It's always good. Now, hotels in Lagos are ridiculously priced. This hotel doesn't dissapoint. But, like I said, this is Lagos, so it's not a peculiar minus. I'd recommended this hotel.

Went to Federal Palace for dinner during the week., I was pleasantly surprised. I have not been there in years so the renovation to the whole structure (at least from the lobby and restaurant) looked very good.
The staff was not exactly friendly but they were very attentive and practically were always only a head nod away. The food was good and the drinks were ok.
You pay to park but if you stay for a meal, then your ticket is stamped so you don't have to pay for parking any longer.
The price is regular for Victoria Island but if you are from the mainland (or just any normal person) the prices can be steep. So unless you are loaded, the Federal Palace should be regarded as a nice place to hang out before heading out for the night and an occasional hunt if you want to treat yourself.
Oh did I mention they have a very nice casino...again Money is the bottom line!

Room Tip: Sit outside on the terrace, its a wonderful and peaceful view.

The kids loved the slide next to the big pool, and were happy with the mini golf and trampoline. The baby loved the baby pool area and small slides. Nice outdoor comfortable beds, and cold drinks availalbe. Access restricted to hotel guests and club members, allowing some privacy and not many people around.

Room Tip: Ask view on the harbor, sea area

Secure, clean with friendly service and good breakfast buffet. Rooms are spaceous and clean and the beds comfortable. Avoid second floor rooms overlooking the rear as they have a great view of the air conditioning system.

Room Tip: Avoid second floor looking out at rear as they overlook the air conditioning plant and can be noisy

The Federal Palace is a very well appointed hotel on Victoria Island in Lagos. The hotel caters for both the business and tourist traveller and has very modern appointments with rooms that are very comfortable. The weather in Lagos can get to be very hot and humid most times but the air conditioning facilities of the hotel are very effective in keeping you cool.

The restaurant serves good food.

Room Tip: Higher floors are generally less noisy.

In any other more developed destination, be it for business or tourism, this hotel would be considered rubbish, but given that this is in Lagos, in Nigeria, it's not bad all. Sure, there's a few nigglets and imperfections, but overall it does the job: nice clean bed in a nice clean room in a nice clean hotel, and the restaurant is pretty good if you enjoy local food. Would stay again, but only if there's nothing better at the same prices...400-500 dollars a night would get you lovely spas anywhere else in the world, but again, TIA.
